Canada Day and Independence Day are fast approaching so I thought I would share some photo tips I have learned over the years from photographing fireworks. Some of what I have learned has been from trial and error because I have had times when they just don’t turn out the way I planned, but when I get all of the settings correct I am so thrilled with the result!
I’ve been having so much fun scrapping all our vacation photos from last summer using the new Cool Serenity Collection – blues, greens and turquoises are my favorite colors and they work so well with the photos of my family at the lake and ocean. I’ve enjoyed playing around and I’m happy to share a new 1-2-3 layout with you!
As part of our road trip vacation last summer we stayed in North Vancouver, B.C. for a few days. One evening we ventured out to a lovely little marina community called Deep Cove. We enjoyed walking around and watching all the boats, climbing down onto the rocks and beach, and then capped off our night with an incredible seafood feast at the most charming bistro overlooking the picturesque marina. We even discovered a new favorite wine and couldn’t leave without bringing home a few bottles to remember our lovely evening! I love that working with these photos brought back all those great memories and, I LOVE how the layout turned out!

Used alone or with border strips created with the 12-Inch Trimmer, the Border Maker System is great for creating quick and easy borders. Besides some of the best basic scrapbooking tools on the market today, Creative Memories also offers some super cool tools for dressing up your scrapbook layouts. Creative Memories basic tools includes All-Purpose Scissors, the Multi-Purpose Tool, the 12-Inch Straight Trimmer, and the Personal Trimmer. The Personal Trimmer can’t be beat for trimming photos and Slide-in Cards. I also use my Personal Trimmer to cut squares, rectangles and triangles to enhance my scrapbook pages. My 12-Inch Straight Trimmer is an essential that I use most often when I’m scrapbooking. In addition to these basic CM tools, the Two-Way Corner Rounder, the Border Maker System, CM Punches and the Custom Cutting System are great for enhancing your scrapbook layouts. In this two part series I’ll share some of my favorite tools to use on my travel and vacation layouts. I’m happy to be sharing another example of how you can easily preserve your memories and stories wno matter how much time you have to scrapbook. you can create a lovely layout in only 10, 15 or 45 minutes! The new Cool Serenity Collection is full of great products that allow you to choose how you want to scrapbook: use the Fast 2 Fabulous Pre-designed Pages to achieve a gorgeous traditional look without spending too much time; use Multi-Pocket Pages and Slide-In Cards to document your stories without needing to cut and paste; or go full out and make beautiful, traditional pages using the Paper Pack, Cardsock, Embellishments and Stickers! I love the luscious colors and patterns in this collection and they were the perfect choice for pairing with photos of an amusement park my family and I visited last summer during our vacation. Let me show you how I used the same photos on three different types of layouts.
What a month – CM introduced not one but two exceptional vacation collections! They’re very different but don’t be afraid to mix and match. I found that the Cool Serenity papers provide a nice pop of color to the Uncharted Collection. The embellishments and stickers in both travel collections are really awesome, and it’s going to be easy to over-use them! I like this piece of advice from Coco Chanel, “before leaving the house, a lady should look in the mirror and remove one accessory.” I tried to follow that rule when making the pages below! This is the second part of my assignment to create layouts based on inspiration from Pinterest. These pages were made with the Cool Serenity Collection. I’m so excited about CM’s new Grass Border Maker Cartridge! I’m mean seriously, what could be more fun for your summertime scrapbook pages than a grassy border, right? I can also think of several ways, other than grass, to use the Grass Border Maker Cartridge for outdoor themed scrapbook layouts. I instantly fell in love with our new Uncharted Collection! I love the color palette, the old-world and travel-related designs and most of all the embellishments! As shown in my first layout, this collection is great for European vacations. But you don’t need to be a world traveler to love or use the Uncharted Collection. I found that it was just as great for photos from an Alaskan vacation. My assignment was to interpret layouts that I found on Pinterest. The first idea that I found worked perfectly with our papers and embellishments. For my second layout, I made a few adaptations and started with ourFast2Fab Predesigned Pages.
