Scrapbooking Layout Ideas using Denim Blues Collection

Are you feeling blue?

We certainly are NOT, as we are loving the new Denim Blues Collection.

The collection has various blues to use to scrapbook just about any occasion….baby, family, a day on the farm, teenagers, etc.

Noreen created this “2 Cute” scrapbooking spread of an adorable little guy showing off his handsomeness.

This collection pairs so well with the Beige Cardstock. It’s warm and inviting.

To create this scrapbooking spread, you will need:

Start with two pieces of Beige Cardstock as the base for your layout.

Select the dark blue plaid paper from the Denim Blues Paper Pack. Use the 12” Straight Trimmer to cut a 1.25’ x 12” strip. Cut the strip again at 5”. Mount the 1.25” x 5” strip about a half an inch up from the bottom of the left hand side of the layout, and the 1.25” x 7” strip on the right hand side.

Punch two Circle Weave Chain border strips from the dark denim textured paper using the Circle Weave Chain Border Maker Cartridge and Border Maker System. Use the 12” Straight Trimmer cut two 1” x 12” strips from the light blue plaid paper. Mount the Circle Weave Chain border strips onto the light blue plaid strips and adhere both borders above the dark blue plaid strip on your layout.

Trim the remaining piece of dark denim textured paper to measure 9 x 12. Turn it 90 degrees and cut at 5”. Mount the 5” x 9” piece on the left hand side of the layout, and the 7” x 9” piece on the right hand side.

Cut a piece of White Cardstock to create a 4” x 4” journaling box. Adhere photos and journaling box as shown. (Alternatively you can use an additional 4” x 4” photo and simply write your journaling directly on your layout base.)

Cut a .25” x 12” strip from each of the light blue and dark blue plaid papers. Trim each strip down to 3.5”, and arrange as shown, flipping some of the strips over for variety.

Add a title using the Denim Blues ABC/123 Stickers, and Embellishment Clusters using the Denim Blues Embellishment pack. For added dimension, pop some of your embellishments off the page using foam squares!

Finish off your layout by writing your journaling and drawing faux stitching lines with the Brown Dual-Tip pen.

Karyn used the clean 12″ x 12″ Spargo Scrapbook Page as the base for her layout, with the lighter tones of blues from the collection.

And, look at those big blue eyes pop off the layout!

To create this layout, you will need:

Cut plaid paper to 11.25” x 11.25” and adhere to spargo page.

Cut denim paper to 7.5” wide x 10” high and tear the top of the piece in a diagonal slant. Adhere to plaid paper.

Cut beige paper to 6” wide by 7” high and adhere to denim paper.

Using the original border maker system, punch a circle weave border from light blue dot paper and a circle weave border from the beige paper. Layer the blue dot border on top of the beige border and adhere to page as shown.

Add photo (mine is a 5″x 7″), journaling and title as shown.

Add layered flower and rhinestone embellishment using a foam square.

Fold the bottom right edge of the denim paper and secure with tape runner. Add button embellishment using a foam square.

Add pen stitching around the plaid paper.

Happy Creating!

  1. Both layouts are just darling! They show off the papers to an advantage and I love the use of the new border. Thanks for the great ideas.

  2. I love the simple idea to turn up the corner and show the second side of the paper. Such an easy thing to do but has a big impact. Can’t wait to use it on a layout. Also love new Denim collection.

  3. I just received my order of the Denim Blues paper. These ideas are giving me the urge to take the paper out of the wrap and start scrapping! I love it!

  4. Sure wish you had this denim in the smaller albums! Oh well!
