Borders are a staple in scrapbooking. Whether working on the most elaborate or the most simple spread, creating a border has long time been a go-to for scrapbookers. There are so many different materials you can use for borders from cardstock to designer paper, stickers to embellishments. The Border Maker System is a must-have tool if you enjoy making borders – it is so user friendly and the options are endless with the catalogue of cartridges available. Today, I want to share with you three different borders made with three different product collections.

Achievements Border

To make this border you will need:

For this border I knew I wanted to make a single 12″ X 12″ layout so I started by punching a strip of White cardstock using the star border punch. I took a strip of black cardstock and I punched it using the Midnight Star Border Punch but then trimmed off the stars and just used the scallop strip to peek out from the bottom of my white star border base.

I wanted the focal piece of the border to be the circular sticker that reads, “The Future is Yours”. I made sure when sticking that down that I was completely covering up two of the stars – this way the sticker stood out from the strip a little more prominently.

Before adhering this to my layout base (a piece of the Achievements Paper Pack), I adhered down one of the border strips that came in the Achievements Sticker Pack. I then layered the border so that the scalloped edge was lined up over the sticker border. Next I added the graduation cap sticker with foam squares and added three star stickers – the two smaller ones were stuck down directly and the larger one was popped up using a foam square.

Fresh Picks Border

In the Fresh Picks Paper Pack there is a fantastic sheet that is designed as a collection of border strips! When I chose this product collection to make a double-page layout I knew I wanted to start with one of these pre-designed strips as my boarder base. I cut that out and then cut flag ends on either side of the 12″ strip.

I knew this border would be used on a double-page spread and I knew that I wanted the boarder to be off-centred so I cut the strip at about one third. I then took the two pieces of designer paper border and matted them on a piece of white cardstock. I kept the mat about 1/4″ all the way around – keeping the inside edge of the border mat free as I wanted it to look continuous across the two page spread.

For my title I used one of the Fresh Picks Slide-Ins and cut it out using the circle patters and the CCS. I adhered that to the right side piece of the boarder strip and then added a strip of Eggplant Cardstock punched with the Medallion Frame Border Cartridge. To embellish the border I used flowers from the Fresh Picks Embellishments. I made three layered flowers and adhered them down around the title using the stems and leaves provided in the embellishment pack as well.

Uncharted Border

Whenever working on a Fast to Fabulous layout I love to take advantage of the fact that so much of the page design work is already done for me. I get to do the fun part and just make it my own! For this Uncharted layout I love that the Fast to Fabulous pages have a vertical border on either side so I decided to square up my page by putting a continuous border along the bottom.

I started by cutting a strip of Beige cardstock and layering a more narrow strip of Brown cardstock. I did this twice so that the boarder would span across both pages in the spread. I then added a strip of Black cardstock punched using the Film Strip Border Cartridge. I had it stick down on a slight angel from the bottom left of the borders to the top right of the borders – again making sure that in the center it appeared that this border was continuous from one page to the next. To fill in the film strip I used scrap pieces of the Uncharted Designer Paper Pack and punched them out with the Film Border Cartridge. This way the rectangular pieces fit in perfectly to the void spaces along the border.

For the page title I used a sticker border from the Uncharted sticker sheets that reads “World Traveler”. On the sticker sheet it is one continuous sticker with a spacer hot air balloon between the words. I cut the strip so that I could put one word on each side of my spread. I used foam squares to adhere the title to the border. I added a border strip from the sticker sheets to the top of the boarders and added the airplane embellishment using foam squares.

There you have it – three different borders made with three different product collections!
