Mi Amor Cards!

Today I want to share with you one of my absolute favourite fun folds for making cards. It’s called an easel fold. Every time I’ve given an easel card to a friend or family member they are always received with such awe and amazement – when really, it’s such an easy card to make!

So, I chose to use Mi Amor for these cards because Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. It’s sort of fun to go all out and make an extra special, handmade card to show the ones you love just how special they are!

As the photos show above – this fun fold will allow your cards to sit on display in a propped up position so that not only does your card front show, but also some of your inside embellishments and any greeting or message you choose to write below your embellishments!

To create these cards you’ll want to start by cutting a standard card base. If you want a portrait (vertical) card you’ll cut your cardstock to measure 4-1/4″ X 11″. Just as you would normally do when creating a portrait card you’ll score at 5-1/2″, but you will also score at 2-1/2″. If you want a landscape (horizontal) card you’ll cut your cardstock to measure 5-1/2″ X 8-1/2″. Just as you would normally do when creating a landscape card, you’ll score at 4-1/4″, but you will also score at 2″.

If you’re a visual person (much like myself) take a peek at the diagram below:

As you’ll notice on diagram you’ll need to put some Tape Runner on the bottom pannel on your card-front. Whether you chose to do a horizontal card or a vertical card you’ll end up with a card front that measures 4-1/4″ X 5-1/2″. You’ll need to take a piece of coordinating cardstock (I used either white or red for mine) and cut it to those dimensions. That panel will get adhered to your card-front by only the adhesive on the bottom panel. Leaving the top adhesive-free allows for the card to fold open!

You’re not going to believe this – but that’s it! The construction of your fun fold card is done. Now all you have to do is design and decorate your card front as well as choose a sticker (or a few!) to adhere to the inside of the card. This step is important because this sticker (or embellishment, if you prefer) is what will hold the card front up.

Here are a few that I came up with using Mi Amor:

When they are closed up they look like a regular card – but it isn’t until the recipient opens the card that they realize it’s fun and different.

• 12″X12″ Cranberry Solid Cardstock
• Mi Amor 12″X12″ Paper Pack
• Mi Amor Stickers
• 12-Inch Trimmer
• Multi-Purpose Tool
• Multi-Purpose Scissors
• The Tape Runner
• Foam Squares
