January Virtual Crop: Challenge 1

Welcome!

We are SOOOO glad that you joined us for the January 2017  Virtual Crop!

We have so many ideas that we hope will inspire you today!

Welcome back to those of you who have virtually cropped with us before, and a BIG warm welcome to all you newbies!

If you are new, you might be asking yourself “What is a Virtual Crop, and WHY am I here?” Yesterday’s blog post helps describe the event.

First and foremost—no need to get out of your jammies!  Just make yourself a cup of tea/coffee, grab a few photos, along with some scrappy supplies!  (Oh, and you will DEFINITELY need some chocolate!)

We will be hosting several challenges right here on the blog, and posting to the events page on Facebook!

Please post your completed pages on the Facebook Events Page to qualify for the door prizes that will be given away at the end of each challenge.  Use the hashtag #CMVirtualCrop.  If you have any questions, just ask in the comments section of each post either here on the blog or on the Facebook Page.

So, let’s get started!

Challenge #1:  Create a single page layout using more than 8 photos, or create a two-page spread using more than 12 photos.  Did you capture an event that has a lot of photos to showcase those memories?  This is a great challenge to get them all on one layout/spread. Please post an image of your layout on the events page prior to the start  (11:00 am CST) of the next challenge to qualify for the prize for this challenge.

Please use hashtag:  #CMVirtualCrop

The Prize for this challenge is: Cake My Day Paper Pack and Cake My Day Stickers

When using multiple photos on a layout, placing your photos into a grid can simplify the process, as well as make it more pleasing to the eye.

To create this layout, you will need:

Cake My Day Paper Pack  US CAN

Cake My Day Stickers  US CAN

Peacock Cardstock  US CAN

Border Maker System with Scallop Dot Border Maker Cartridge  US CAN

12″ Straight Trimmer  US CAN

Foam Squares  US CAN

Tape Runner  US CAN

Step 1:  Use the orange paper as the base for this layout.

Step 2:  Cut a piece from the blue paper to measure 4″ x 12″.  Adhere to the top of the layout.

Step 3:  Punch a border from the Peacock Cardstock using the Scallop Dot Border Maker Cartridge.  Cut to measure 1-1/2″ x 12″.  Adhere along the bottom edge of the blue paper.

Step 4:  Cut a piece of the multi-color lined paper to measure 12″ x 1″.  Adhere to the top of the Peacock Cardstock.

Step 5:  Cut four pieces from the yellow paper to measure 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″.

Step 6:  Cut four pieces from the yellow paper to measure 2-3/4″ x 3-3/4″.  Adhere yellow pieces to the layout.

Step 7:  Adhere four photos that measure 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″, and four photos that measure 2-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ to the yellow pieces.

Step 8:  Adhere stickers to the layout, tucking the pinwheel stickers under the paper strips, and using foam squares on the title stickers for dimension.

Step 9:  Journal using Black Dual Tip Pen.

To create this layout, you will need:

The Daily Docket Paper Pack  US CAN

The Daily Docket Embellishments US CAN

Mint ABC/123 Stickers US CAN

Gold ABC/123 Stickers US CAN

12″ Straight Trimmer  US CAN

Tape Runner  US CAN

Use a piece of The Daily Docket patterned paper for the base of this layout. Take two pieces of coordinating patterned paper from the same paper pack and cut one of them into nine squares measuring 3-3/8” and the other into nine squares measuring 3-1/4”.

Print nine photos measuring 3” X 3” and adhere them to the square mats created using the Daily Docket patterned papers.

When arranging the square photos on your layout keep in mind that you want to add embellishments and a title somewhere so if there is a void space in one of your photos be strategic about where you put that photo so that it can be used as the space to stick an embellishment.

For this layout I created 3 little embellishment clusters and on one of them used the Mint and Gold ABC/123s to create a title. I also used the Brown Pen to make note of the day these photos were taken.

  1. I did all the challenges today. Thank you for the motivation. However, I am disappointed that I spent the last 30 minutes trying to make the coupon worked and could not make it work.

  2. That happened to me, too. I tried to get it to work for 45 minutes. Now I think it is too late.
