A Bright and Beautiful Shower

Today I am so excited to be sharing this project with you! I recently hosted a baby shower for a friend of mine and to create all of the party decor and elements I used the DIGITAL Cake My Day Collection!

Everything was pre-designed on my computer and then I sent it off to have it printed on cardstock at my local print shop. It was super fast, super fun to make, and best of all — it knocked the socks off the mama-to-be, which is always fun!

So, let’s get started! What I did first was downloaded the Cake My Day collection from the CM shop. Once the files were purchased, I uploaded them into my software and started to design!

I made lots of fun elements for the party that I would only be able to achieve through creating this in digital format and then having it printed and created. Below are photos of the printed sheets for the cupcake picks, the name tags, and the baby banner.

Once I had these printed I either used my 12-Inch Trimmer or my Circle Patterns for my Custom Cutting System and cut them out. For the cupcake picks I cut out a second circle just a touch bigger in Rasberry Cardstock – this served two purposes – it looked great and it also hid the toothpick between the two layers of cardstock! Once they were complete they looked like this:

The name tags came together in a snap! They were just cut out using the 12-Inch Trimmer and then we used baby pins to keep them attached to the shower guests! We just brought a black permanent marker and had people write their names when they arrived. It worked perfectly!

For the banner, I cut the triangles out of the cardstock and then realized that I wanted this banner to be even more fun — so I used my circle patterns and the Custom Cutting System to cut out the letters from the triangle and then I created a medallion in Raspberry Cardstock that I used to back each of the letters. It gives the banner so much more dimension and it was such a quick thing to pull together. For instructions on how to make a medallion check out this blog post: Medallion Post

Once it was done, the banner looked like this:

We had a few people with allergies at the shower so it was fun to whip up some labels for the food table. It made the table look super cute, but also allowed for those who needed to be aware of what food contained to find out quickly and easily! To create them I just made white cardstock tents (just cards essentially) and then I used Cake My Day Patterned Paper for the yellow background and then I used the labels that I had made digitally. This is a perfect example of how fantastic it is to have a collection that is offered in both physical product as well as digital — I hadn’t planned what these labels would look like and when I decided on the label tents I could just add perfectly coordinating patterned paper to back the labels!

The final project I made were these super sweet thank you cards for the new mama to simply fill out and send off to the friends who attended her party and showered her with love and gifts!

The yellow panel was designed digitally (I was able to fit 6 panels to one sheet of 8-1/2″”X 11″ cardstock!). Then I matted it on some Raspberry Cardstock and then used foam squares to adhere the pannel to a piece of white cardstock that measured 8-1/2″ (scored at 4-1/4″) X 5-1/2″. I found some super sweet little white sequences in my daughters crafting supplies that I used on the centres of the pinwheels (*note: these are fine for cards, but they are definitely not photo safe, so using them on scrapbook layouts would not be recommended).

If you’d like to create party decor using the Cake My Day product line all you need is:

That’s it, that’s all! We had such a fun shower and it was so much fun to have completely custom decor that all coordinated. It was also fun that it was bright and beautiful colours since the mama to be is a cheery and bubbly woman!

Feel free to leave any questions in the comments section. Until next time, take care!
