It’s Hip to be Square: Create a Calendar Grid Scrapbook Layout

“Think imaginatively using new ideas instead of traditional or expected ideas.”

Can you guess what the sentence above is a definition of? I’m almost one hundred percent positive that you’ve heard it before…

Need a hint? A square box….or lots of little square boxes.

Did you get it now? Alright, let’s check your answer.

“Think outside the box!”

Today, we’re going to think outside the box with the Creative Memories Calendar Pages. If you have them, it’s likely you’ve made some gorgeous calendar pages. But instead of following the traditional or expected idea, we’re going to think imaginatively and introduce a new idea–turning the calendar pages into completed layouts!

What makes it even better? That we can use up our scraps. This concept works with any paper products as well, for any theme.

To create these layouts, you will need:

Paper Measurements:

  • 3″ x 3″
  • 1-1/2″ x 3″
  • 1-1/2″ x 1-1/2″

Directions:

Step 1: Cut several pieces of patterned paper to measure 3″ x 3″. Adhere to grid.

Step 2: Cut several pieces of patterned paper to measure 1-1/2″ x 3″. Adhere to grid.

Step 3: Cut several pieces of patterned paper to measure 1-1/2″ x 1-1/2″. Adhere to grid.

Step 4: Add 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ photos to the top of the 3″ x 3″ paper pieces.

Step 5: Fill in any empty squares with photos that measure either 1-1/2″ x 1-1/2″, or 1-1/2″ x 3″.

Step 6: Add embellishments or stickers to complete layout.  Adhere with Foam Squares for added dimension.

Step 7: Journal.

We would love to see your calendar grid! Share it on social media using the #creativememories.

Happy Creating!
