Vacation Borders Take Flight!

It’s that time of year…time for family vacations! So much of the fun is in the planning and the getting there. Why not start your vacation pages with pictures of the eager adventure-bound faces on the plane and stories and memorabilia of the travel plans?

Here I’ve paired the Gallivant collection with the Jumbo Jet Border Maker Cartridge to create some easy vacation borders.

Wherever your adventures take you this summer, I hope you enjoy the journey!

To make these borders you’ll need:

Up Up & Away Border

  1. Cut a 1-3/4″ x 12″ strip of gold paper for the base.
  2. Using the scallop dot cartridge, punch a border with gray paper. Trim to 1-5/8″ x 12″. Align on base so that gold base peeks through lower dots.
  3. Using the circle weave cartridge, punch a border with red paper. Align on border so that circles overlap gold dots, as shown.
  4. Using the jumbo jets cartridge, punch a border with navy cardstock. Add to the border, overlapping circle weave border as shown.
  5. Add arrow and “Up Up & Away” embellishments with foam squares.

Good to Go Border

  1. Cut a 2-1/2″ x 12″ strip of green/navy patterned paper for the base. Cut a 2″ x 12″ strip of green paper and adhere to the base.
  2. Using the picket fence cartridge, punch a border with navy paper. Trim to 1″ x 12″ and add to the left side of the green strip. Using the jumbo jets cartridge, punch a border with gold paper and add to the right side.

  2. Using the jumbo jets cartridge, punch a border each with red and navy paper. Following the diagonal lines of the base, add strips of jets to the white map strip as shown. Trim excess and adhere white strip to gray and then to the base.
  3. Add camera and compass embellishments and “Time for Adventure” sticker with foam squares.

Vacation Border

  1. Cut a 2-1/4″ x 12″ strip of navy paper for the base.
  2. Using both the chevron and film strip cartridges, punch a border with gold paper, alternating as shown. Trim to 1-7/8″ x 12″ and add to the base.
  3. Trim out a 1/2″ x 12″ strip of mountains from the designer paper. Adhere it to the bottom of the border.

  1. Hi, I love reading this blog. I’m a long time scrapbooker, new advisor. I’m would love to see some more simple layouts. I never do borders! Instead, I often get 8-10 photos on a page. I often put a whole season on one layout! I would love to see some more layouts incorporating a lot of photos. Or how to get pages done quicker. Happy scrapping

  2. I love simple border ideas with fewer layers , too many choices of pattern combinations overwhelms me. Simple pages, completed albums is what I learned from CM eons ago when I started scrapbooking. Many of the ones I see now have lots of feminine looking accents. I have grandsons and would appreciate ideas for them.

  3. These borders are so cute! Great ideas and instructions about how to create them! Thanks!

  4. love the borders, where did the up, up and away sticker come from, I can’t seem to find it, thanks
