Toil & Trouble–MEOW!

Hello friends! When I first saw the Toil & Trouble collection, I smiled because it is too cute for words! And the patterns are so versatile. You can create Halloween, Kitty, or any other everyday layout using this collection!

I will admit, I immediately thought about using this collection to scrapbook my cats, not Halloween. That “meow” washi tape and adorable kitty cat stickers were just calling my name. I couldn’t help it. Let’s not even go into the fact that it has teal and black and white polka dots and triangles… Literally, I could go into all kinds of favorites with this collection.

To create this 12×12 layout, you will need:

To begin this layout, I used the black and white triangle patterned paper as my base. I cut the back of the triangle sheet to 10″x8″. Then I cut a 10″x8″ stripe rectangle, 9″x7″ polka dot rectangle and a 9″x2″ strip from the triangle patterned paper.

I adhered the 10″x11″ pattern to the base, about 1″ from the left-side and top of the layout. Then I adhered the black and white striped paper and polka dot to the center of the base as shown. I used the Scallop Burst Border Punch to punch a scalloped border from the 9″x2″ strip then adhered it to the left side of the teal and white polka dot paper.

I adhered the orange variety mat about 2″ from the bottom of the polka dot paper and added two photo collage strips to the center, tucking the mat behind the scallop border.

I added some washi tape to the left-side and bottom right-side of the layout. I love washi tape!

I added some more washi at the bottom of the photo and at the top of the frame. Then I added the stickers and tiny triangles that I cut from the patterned paper using adhesives and foam squares.

I used a ruler and Black Dual-Tip Marker to create some faux stitching at the top right-side of the teal and white polka dot paper and at the bottom left-side of the layout.

I adhered the stickers as shown then I used the Black Dual-Tip Pen to hand-journal my story.

What do you think about this adorable collection? If you have this collection already, how do you plan on using this collection? I can’t wait to see what others create with it.

Thank you for visiting today!

  1. Very nice. I’m always scared putting so many patterns together on a page. I like how the one group of photos peek out from behind. I am a visual learner, so to only read how you put the layout together can at times be confusing. I realize it would add to the length of the post, but if there were photos to go with the various steps, I know I would find it helpful, but realize that it may make the post just way too long. Great layout and lovely kitty!
