The Best of Times Layout

Best-of-Times-Croptoberfest-Kit Layout-Project

Hello everyone. Just recently, I came across a photo on my Facebook “On This Day” feed and came across a photo that I never scrapped. It was a favorite of mine too, but at the time, I did not have the right papers or embellishments to use for the layout. Until, almost four years later… As you can see, I do not scrapbook in chronological order; I scrapbook the photos that inspire me to scrapbook; photos and memories that I love…

The Croptoberfest Project Recipe Kit was perfect for these photos. The colors and patterns were just what I was looking for. And of course, I fell in love with the stickers. I just couldn’t stop adding them to the layout!

To complete this 12×12 scrapbook layout, you will need:

I used the cardstock as the base for this layout. Then I cut the striped patterned paper into an 11″x 11″ square and adhered it to the center of the base. Then I cut the yellow floral patterned paper down to 8″x 11″ and adhered it to the center, right-side of the layout approximately 1″ to the left side of the striped paper as shown. I used the scrap piece as a border by adhering the striped patterned approximately 1/4″ from the yellow floral patterned paper to show just a little bit of floral. Then I added the leaves border sticker above the striped border strip.

I printed two 3″x3″ photos, cropped into a square and adhered them to the top of the layout at an angle to leave space to tuck stickers behind the photos etc.

I cut the wreath sticker in half and tucked it at the top of the photo and the bottom to help pull the photos together. I added the “The Best of Times” sticker at the bottom of the colored photo, tucking the floral sticker behind the left-side of the photo. I used a foam square to pop the tiny gold heart between the title sticker. Then I added a few more florals to the bottom right-side of the black and white photo. I used a foam square to pop the little circle floral dot off the page and another slightly down the page to help frame my journaling.

I used a ruler and Black Dual-Tip marker to hand-journal my journaling.

  1. I agree with Donna. Scrapbooking is an expensive hobby, and I want to tastefully use as much space on a page as possible.

  2. More pictures on a page please. One or two pictures is fine for a special page but not when you want to get your album finished.

  3. You’re right the colors and stickers in their pack to the pics perfectly! Sometimes I only have one or two pics from an event like a lunch with a friend or something goofy that happened with my kids that I snap very quickly. Thanks for the layout!

  4. What I love about project recipes is that you don’t have to guess on measurements for the cuts and that you can use the maximum amount of paper with any leftover paper all in one chunk that I can save for later. As for the number of photos on a page the Project recipe is just a guideline that can be altered as you need. I typically change it up a bit so as to have a unique creation with the number of photos that work for me.

  5. Nicole, I love your layout!!! Thank you for this wonderful idea. I also have two special events I want to scrap but only have one picture for each…..I never thought of printing an extra in black and white to use up some space. Thanks again, now I can get them documented.

  6. I agree with you statement you do not SB chronological! I find books get looked at more if they have to hunt!!! And yes – the perfect paper eventually comes along!!!!

  7. How can I get the Croptober Fest paper bundle?
