On the 1st Day of Cropping…

12 Days of…

Throughout the year, we receive many requests to see layouts/ideas using a certain number of photos on the layout.  So, when we thought about what we would do for “12 Days” we decided it would be great to show you how to use 1-12 photos on a holiday themed layout.

So without further ado, we introduce you to the 12 Days of Cropping…

On the 1st Day of Christmas, Creative Memories gave to me an idea using 1 photograph.

So often we think about layouts that are themed directly to the event.  I challenge you to think outside of the box.  The Made With Love and Woodland Whimsy Girl papers are the perfect combo for a holiday themed layout.

Do you have that ONE photo that speaks volumes to you?  Or is it the only photo that you took from an event.  Maybe you might be looking for an opening page for a special album…all of which make it perfectly acceptable to scrapbook a layout with one photo.

Layout created by Melissa Ullmann- CM Home Office

To create this layout, you will need:

Use the red and white gingham paper as the base for this layout.

Cut a piece of Black Cardstock to measure 9-1/2″ x 9-1/2″.  Adhere to the center of the layout.

Cut a piece of the yellow patterned paper to measure 9-1/4″ x 9-1/4″.  Cut out the center of this piece leaving a 1/2″ frame.  Adhere to the top of the Black Cardstock.

Cut a piece of the white patterned paper to measure 7-1/2″ x 7-1/2″.  Adhere to the center of the yellow frame.

Cut a piece from the green patterned paper to measure 6-1/2″ x 4-1/2″.   Adhere to the layout.

Adhere 6″ x 4″ photo to the photo mat.

Using the Holly Border Punch, punch several borders from the green patterned paper. Cut a varying lengths, adhering to the upper right side of the yellow frame using Repositionable Tape Runner Refill.

Using the Poinsettia Punch, punch several poinsettias, adhering the centers to the holly using the Precision Point Adhesive.  Adhere gems to the center of each poinsettia.

Adhere title using Ruby ABC/123 Stickers.

Use Black Dual-Tip Pen to journal and draw faux stitches along the outer edge of the yellow frame.

    1. I do different size album pages so i just scale down any sketch or scrap-lift to fit my choice.
If I don’t have the name brands listed I use what I have in my stash – as close to what is shown as possible if required for the challenge.

      1. Me, too, Phyllis! I am an 8.5×11 scrapper (oh, how I miss that size CM album). I do the same things you do–downsize and copy as much as I can. Plus, I can also scrap digitally, if I have the urge. CM digital kits are very reasonably priced. I already have the photo in mind for this layout. :-) I will probably use real materials on this one.

  1. Great Idea…I’m looking forward to ALL 12!!! I’m currently checking my wardrobe to be sure I have enough Sugarplum colored items to wear during photos to be used in my holiday layouts! LOL!

  2. This is such a fantastic idea – great way to make the most of ’12’ days! I like the square mat you built – and then dropped the photo so there’s room for embellishment and title. Thanks!

  3. How fun! Looking forward to the next. 11 days of cropping 😁. I can’t even imagine 12 pictures- so excited!

  4. The 12 Days of Christmas is a great idea!!! Love when you use non-Christmas collections for holiday pages!

  5. I am going to enjoy this challenge. After reading today’s challenge, I couldn’t wait to get home from work as I knew exactly which picture I needed to do. It’s not Christmas however it is my one photo challenge!
