What Is A Virtual Crop?

A Virtual Crop is an online scrapbooking event where we give participants “challenges” to complete, and when you complete them and share them with us on the Facebook Event Page, you will be eligible to win prizes!

What Supplies Should I Prep?

Lots of photos! Scrapbooking supplies we recommend include the Custom Cutting System, Original Border Maker System, 12-inch Straight Trimmer and Tape Runner.

What Are Examples Of “Challenges”?

Most challenges are single-page layouts, some are two-page spreads and some are cards. We will post a sketch, and then you get to create it!

How Do I “Read” A Sketch?

Look for guidelines of where to place photos in a specific overall layout. Refer to the example below of a sketch on the left and the finished layout on the right.

What Are Examples Of Prizes and How Are They Awarded?

Prizes are Creative Memories products! We’ve been known to award Punches, Paper Packs, Embellishments, Cardstock, Album Covers and more. We award the prizes randomly, but we make sure that all the challenge requirements have been met first.

How Do I Participate?

Follow the simple instructions below or view step-by-step instructions.

  1. RSVP on the Facebook Event Page prior to the event (the sooner, the better!).
  2. At start time, log in to the Facebook Event Page. There will be a link for a challenge in the Facebook Event “Discussion” tab.
  3. Click the link for the challenge, which will take you here – to our blog (HINT: If you’ve subscribed to the blog already, the challenges will be emailed to you directly as all other blog posts are and you can skip this step). The challenge instructions will be posted here on the blog.
  4. Complete the challenge.
  5. Take a picture of your completed challenge and post it on our Facebook Event Page. Continue to refresh the Event Page to see projects submitted by others.
  6. Admire everyone’s finished masterpieces, and hopefully you win a prize!

We hope to “virtually” see everyone at our next Virtual Crop! If you’ve attended a Virtual Crop in the past, what is the BEST advice you would give to a first-time participant? Comment below and let us know!

    1. I am wondering how long we have to complete the challenges. I have 2 done, but I just started yesterday evening. Haven’t posted them yet, but plan to do so.

      1. I agree with Donnetta. In light of the way that FB uses (abuses) our personal information, it would be useful if CM provided their own sharing platform that we could be sure was private. Even being able to post pics below the Challenge blog post would be better than using FB. I deleted my FB account and won’t be joining again. That said, I do appreciate that the actual challenge is a blog post. I am subscribed to the blog and I do get the emails with each Challenge so I can participate in the Challenges, even if I don’t share my projects.

      1. This should be told that only CM products to win a prize. Nothing was posted in the 411. I don’t mind, but I didn’t know so my first challenge is not all CM products.

  1. Have lots of pictures ready. The first one I attended I did not and made three trips to Walmart during the two days to get more photos printed!

  2. I’ll be participating, but I don’t do Facebook. I’m looking forward to a great time…just did 16 layouts today using Sugar Plum papers with accessories and velum papers…so very beautiful. Just got my package of Going Gone items, so glad we get a heads up. CM is a great family!!!

    1. We appreciate the feedback on this. I will definitely bring it back to the team to see if there are other options we can explore. You can still join us and complete the challenges! But like mentioned below you will not be able to submit for a prize or see other projects.

    1. I’d like to know also! (how to participate without Facebook). Maybe you just can’t submit completed pages?

  3. Oh I do see the challenges will be emailed through the blog. I’d never seen that before. I guess I should have read closer above. Submitting would be the only issue I guess. I’ll have to try it out!

  4. Pre select some of your papers to go with your pictures that you have gathered. I am a slow Scrapbooker and the challenges go quickly for me. And as mentioned have the supplies that are listed all ready for fun creativity! Oh, and if you live in a different time zone be aware of the start and finish times.

  5. Post your photo of the layout as it’s own post…not as a “comment” on someone else’s….those are too easy to get lost! But most importantly, have fun!

  6. Does each challenge have to be submitted within the 4 hour window to be an eligible entry? Or can they be submitted at any time within the 3 days?

    1. Hi Roslyn – Usually that is the case! This time for the Worldwide Virtual Crop, you have the entire event to submit all 12 challenges (since some will post while you are sleeping). Hope you will be joining us!

  7. Can Instagram be used to post photos of pages, by chance, for those that do not use Facebook?
