Looking for a super cute layout idea using Mix & Match? Look no further! I just finished creating this Mix & Match Blue scrapbook layout (and now I cannot get the song “You Make Me Happy When Skies Are Blue” out of my head) with a photo I snapped at the beach with my son a few weeks ago. The Mix & Match Blue Paper Pack and Blue Bouquet Embellishments went perfectly with the photo, and since I especially love the flowers, I decided to create a fun cluster of flowers, leaves and petals to help frame the photo! Ready for instructions?
To create this 12×12 layout, you will need:
- Mix & Match Blue Paper Pack
- Mix & Match Blue Bouquet Embellishments
- 12X12 Solid White Cardstock
- All-Purpose Scissors
- 12-inch Straight Trimmer
- Tape Runner
- Foam Squares
- Black Dual-Tip Pen
- Ruler
To begin, I used the flower patterned paper as the base. Then, I cut the White Cardstock down to 10″ x 10″ using the 12-inch Straight Trimmer and mounted it to the center of the base using a Taper Runner. To create a frame for the photo, I cut two pieces of patterned paper down to 4″ x 6″ and mounted them to the layout as shown, then I adhered the photo onto the mat. Once the papers were all mounted, I was ready to embellish this layout with several pieces from the Mix & Match Blue Bouquet. It was so much fun layering these pieces together! I took my time adhering the pieces one at a time until I was satisfied with the placement.
As I was creating this layout, I decided I needed a butterfly so I found a butterfly die cut from the Little Lamb Embellishments and traced it onto the patterned paper, then used my All-Purpose Scissors to cut it out. I squeezed the butterfly a little in the center to add a crease so it would not look too flat, then mounted it to the layout using Foam Squares.
To complete the layout, I used a Black Dual-Tip Pen and a ruler to hand journal my story.
What do you think? Are you ready to find your favorite Mix & Match color and get scrapping!?
