Score a Touchdown with the Sunshine Border Maker Cartridge Scrapbook Football Border

Down… set… HIKE! The college football season officially kicked off last weekend, and with a slew of big-time games this weekend, the forecast calls for plenty of pigskin from now until February. Are your scrapbooks ready? Whether your alma mater takes the field on Saturdays, your favorite professional team takes the field on Sundays or your student-athlete takes the field on Fridays, there are plenty of opportunities for you to fill your albums with football photos this fall. Want to really make these football scrapbook albums stand out? Blog contributor Karen created a beautiful football scrapbook border using the Sunshine Border Maker Cartridge that makes every page look like it came straight from the gridiron. Check it out!

Blog Contributor Karen’s Inspiration:

When the Sunshine Border Maker Cartridge was released, I immediately saw footballs! Maybe it is because I bleed red and black and love college football season. This is how the suns became footballs for a Georgia Bulldog fan!

To create this border, you will need:

Step 1: Using the Sunshine Border Maker Cartridge and Black Cardstock, punch once at the top of the border and once at the bottom of the border (leave the middle blank for lettering). Make sure to save all the scraps.

Step 2: Using the 12-inch Straight Trimmer, cut the black borders to measure 12″ x 1-1/4″. Then, cut two 12″ x 1-3/4″ strips of Red Cardstock.

Step 3: Using the Repositionable Adhesive, adhere the black border to the Red Cardstock strips. Make sure you cover the entire portion under the suns with Repositionable Adhesive. Tip: Use Tape Runner on the Red Cardstock so the excess tape stays on the Red Cardstock for the next step.

Step 4: Decide if you want your footballs to all face one direction or alternate. I alternated the direction in my example. Take the scraps from the Sunshine Border Maker Cartridge that you saved from Step 1 and very carefully fill in the blanks to create a football design. You will use two large triangles and four small triangles per football. VERY CAREFULLY, rub off the excess Repositionable Adhesive. If you accidentally rub off a triangle, just use the Repositionable Adhesive to place it again.

Step 5: Add lettering for your team using White Serif ABC/123 Stickers. I chose Georgia Dawgs because that’s my alma mater.

Step 6: Finish by adding the borders to the black and white swirl paper to create the start of a beautiful layout.

  1. Quite creative. I love the simplicity of the design and how effective it is, it makes the page quite stunning.

  2. Might be able to simplify it by just using the scraps from the Sun BMC to make your own footballs instead of trying to fill in the little spaces….just my thought, I’m going to try it both ways!! Thanks! So cute!!

  3. Took me a minute, but I’m on board! This is a great idea and shows just how versatile CM products are as well as the people that use them!

  4. Catching up on Blog posts and saw this while waiting on the game to start. Love it and my GA scrapbookers will love it! Go Dawgs!!!!

  5. This is a very clever way of using this punch — however — SO MANY people do sports pages — wondering why CM hasn’t yet come up with a cartridge that will punch basketballs, baseballs, footballs, soccer balls, etc.?
