It’s easy to understand the intent behind the collection, but what about the inspiration? What was it about fall and Halloween that made the designer make the decisions that she did? Get a behind-the-scenes look at the Pumpkin Spice collection and see it through the eyes of Tara, the designer of the collection!
Meet the Designer
Tara has been an illustrator and product designer with Creative Memories since December 2015. Other CM collections she has designed include Little Lamb, Imagine, Sugarplum, Bookworm, Fur Buddies, Go! Fight! Win!, Gallivant, Super Duper, Fanatic and more.
What Was Your Inspiration?
“Autumn and pumpkins! I wanted to create something that would work for any type of autumn project, not just Halloween. Gourds, fall outdoor activities like hayrides and corn mazes, autumn home decor, plaids and leaves were also sources of inspiration for the designs. My goal for the paper pack was to have one side of each sheet be a heavy pumpkin/Halloween theme and the other side of the paper be a general pattern that works great for any fall layout. That balance is what makes this collection so versatile — I love that you can use it not only for Halloween, but also for any type of fall-related project!”
What is Your Favorite Sticker and Why?
“My favorite sticker is the boo-tiful trick-or-treating ghost. It has a playful and silly personality to it!”
Do You Have a Favorite Paper Design?
“The gourd pattern paper was fun and something different that you wouldn’t normally see in Halloween or fall paper packs. The orange plaid isn’t far behind that. Plaid is always a classic.”
What was the Most Difficult Thing About Designing This Collection?
“Trying to find the right balance of Halloween and a general fall theme. Hopefully, you will be able to use most of it for either Halloween OR fall themes.”
What is Your Favorite Halloween Costume that You’ve Worn?
“I have always loved kitties and I think that I was a kitty cat most of the years, so I would have to say my favorite would be a kitty.”
What are Your Plans for Halloween this Year?
“I think I’ll go to the farm and go on a hayride! Then, I’ll feed the mini horsies and goats and give them pets. After that, I’ll spend the rest of the night by the fire.”

I love Creative Memories and all the new albums you bring out, but I am not a fan of the large albums…I love those 8×10 and smaller. Please bring out some more of those in the future. Thanks for letting me vent! Sue Brady…karenleebrady@gmail.com
Sue did you see the new Happy Album? It’s a great size for people who like smaller books 6 3/4 x 11. It has kits that fit it that you can use to decorate. Check those out.
I didn’t think I’d like a collection more than Sugar Plum, but this one is great! You can blend it with the new fall collection too, and textiles, stone, and wood! Now I have to get out there and take some great photographs to crop with these collections!
