How to Make Holiday Scrapbook Borders with the Season’s Greetings Collection

It’s officially the holiday season! Are you ready to shift your scrapbooking efforts toward holiday-themed pages and projects? The Season’s Greetings collection gives you a wide array of tools and materials at your disposal to create gorgeous projects for the holiday season. This is especially true when it comes to creating beautiful holiday-themed scrapbook borders. I’m feeling nostalgic today as I’m working with the new Season’s Greetings collection. Its classic vintage feel brings me back to my childhood Christmases. There are lots of memories there, filled with special traditions that I carry on with my family still. I know I’ll be taking photos of the tree decorating, lefse making and gift opening, so I’m planning ahead with a few borders to adorn the pages. To make these borders you’ll need:

• Season’s Greetings Paper Pack, Embellishments with Faux Stitching, Laser Cut Border Embellishments and Stickers
• Crimson, Red, White and Goldenrod Cardstock
• Embossed Bow Punch
• On the Vine Border Punch
• Original Border Maker System with Rolling Hills, Midnight Star, Garland and Double Chevron Cartridges (Rolling Hills & Garland Cartridges returning 2019)
• 12-inch Straight Trimmer
• All-Purpose Scissors
• Tape Runner with Repositionable Tape Runner Refill
• Foam Squares

Starry Sky Border

Step 1: Cut a 3-1/2″ x 12″ strip of white star patterned paper for the base.

Step 2: Using the Midnight Star Border Maker Cartridge, punch a border with red patterned paper. Trim to 2-1/2″ x 12″. Place a 3/8″ x 12″ strip of Goldenrod Cardstock behind the largest stars and mount on the base.

Step 3: Using the Rolling Hills Border Maker Cartridge, punch a border with green swirl patterned paper and trim to 1-3/4″ x 12″. Punch another border with green houndstooth patterned paper, flipping it over to the back side before punching. Trim to 2″ x 12″ and mount along the bottom edge of the red midnight stars strip, making sure that the tallest trees line up with gold stars. Mount the green swirls strip on top, overlapping as shown, making sure the tallest stars line up with gold stars.

Step 4: Add the laser cut stars embellishment.

Merry Christmas Border

Step 1: Cut a 2-3/4″ x 12″ strip of Crimson Cardstock for the base. Top with a 2-1/2″ x 12″ strip of poinsettia patterned paper.

Step 2: Cut a 1-3/4″ x 12″ strip of green houndstooth patterned paper and a 1-1/2″ x 12″ strip of holly patterned paper. With each strip, gently fold one end lengthwise and snip the corner off with scissors to create a ribbon effect. Mount the holly strip on top of the green strip and adhere to the border at an angle as shown. Trim the excess.

Step 3: Adhere the “merry” embellishment and two border sticker strips to the ribbon as shown. Add the sleigh and “Christmas” stickers with Foam Squares.

Holly Garlands Border

Step 1: Cut a 3″ x 12″ strip of swirled green patterned paper for the base.

Step 2: Using the Garland Border Maker Cartridge, punch a border with red patterned paper. Trim to 2-5/8″ x 12″ and mount on the base.

Step 3: Using the Rolling Hills Border Maker Cartridge, punch a border with White Cardstock and trim to 2-1/4″ x 12″. Punch again with beige dotted patterned paper and trim to 2″ x 12″. Trim 1/2″ from the left side of the white strip and adhere the strip to the border, aligning the tops of the tallest trees with the garland berries. Place the 1/2″ piece you trimmed off to the right side of the border to make a continuous strip. Mount the beige dots strip on top, aligning at the bottom of the white strip.

Step 4: Adhere the laser cut holly border on top.

Bows Border

Step 1: Cut a 2-1/2″ x 12″ strip of holly patterned paper for the base.

Step 2: Using the On the Vine Border Punch, punch a border from Crimson Cardstock. Apply Repositionable Adhesive to half the strip and mount it along the right side of the base.

Step 3: Cut a 2″ x 12″ strip of red-and-white striped patterned paper and top with a 1-1/2″ x 12″ strip of swirled green patterned paper. Mount on the base as shown.

Step 4: Adhere the laser cut boughs border along the green strip. Top with three red and two crimson embossed bows, using Foam Squares.

Home for the Holidays Border

Step 1: Cut a 3″ x 12″ strip of red-and-white striped patterned paper for the base. Top first with a 2-3/8″ x 12″ strip of red quilted patterned paper and then with a 2″ x 12″ strip of house patterned paper.

Step 2: Using the Rolling Hills Border Maker Cartridge, punch a border with green swirls patterned paper. Trim to 1-1/8″ x 12″ and then cut off two 2″ sections.

Step 3: Using the Double Chevron Border Maker Cartridge, punch a border with green houndstooth patterned paper and trim to 1-1/8″ x 12″. Cut off three 2″ sections. Using scissors, snip through the triangle shapes on the trimmed side, following the chevron angles, to create “tree” shapes.

Step 4: Mount all five 2″ tree sections along the border, alternating rolling hills and chevron “trees,” leaving space near the top for the title.

Step 5: With Foam Squares, apply the “Home for the Holidays” and holly stickers to the red-and-white striped embellishment and add to the border as shown.
