Photos in various stages of trimming.

Step 1: Choose four photos to suit the left-hand page of the layout. Working clockwise from the top photo shown on the left-hand page of the layout; trim the first, second and fourth photos on the outside of the smallest Rectangle CCS Pattern with the Red Blade, varying the position of the cut to allow for a straight edge at the top, right and left sides of the photos as shown (vertical/portrait photos work best for these). Trim the third photo (at the bottom of the left-hand page) on the outside of the large Rectangle CCS Pattern with the Blue Blade. Note: On some photos, you will need to complete the cut in your Personal Trimmer (see example photo below) to have a curved corner on two corners of each photo.

Trim around two rounded corners only to suit the matching photo, then carefully complete trimming with the 12-inch Trimmer.

Step 2: Position the smallest Rectangle CCS Pattern near the top edge of the yellow patterned paper, with the Green Blade on the outside of the pattern, start to trim just below the top corner on the right and continue around to just below the top left corner, so that you have two curved corners at the bottom. Using your 12-inch Trimmer, carefully complete the cut to create two square corners with a straight edge at the top of your resulting paper mat. Repeat trimming two pink pattern paper mats in a similar fashion, however, this time one will need square corners on the left and one will need square corners on the right side. Adhere the first, second and fourth photo onto their matching paper mats (as shown on the layout) and carefully trim off any excess paper using your Personal Trimmer. Set these photos aside.

Step 3: Choose five photos to suit the right-hand page of the layout. Working clockwise from the top photos shown on the right-hand page of the layout; trim the first, second, third and fifth photos on the outside of the smallest Rectangle CCS Pattern with the Red Blade, varying the position of the cut at the bottom, left and right sides of the photos as shown (vertical/portrait photos work best for photos one and two, horizontal/landscape photos work well for photos three, four and five). Trim the fourth photo (at the bottom of the right-hand page) on the outside of the large Rectangle CCS Pattern with the Blue Blade. Note: Again, on some photos, you will need to complete the cut in your Personal Trimmer to have a curved corner on two corners of each photo, as shown below.

Step 4: In a similar fashion to Step 2, trim two rectangles of yellow patterned paper and two of pink patterned paper on the outside of smallest Rectangle CCS Pattern with the Green Blade. Ensure each rectangle has two curved corners and two square corners (as shown on the layout); you will need to carefully complete cutting each paper mat with your 12-inch Trimmer. Adhere the first, second and fourth photo onto these paper mats and carefully trim off any excess paper using your Personal Trimmer. Set these photos aside.

Punching the pumpkin border.

Step 5: Punch two border strips of aqua patterned paper using the Border Maker System with the Pumpkin Border Maker Cartridge. Trim a 2″ x 12″ and 1-1/2″ x 12″ strip of blue patterned paper. Adhere the pumpkin strips along the edge of the blue paper strips so the bottom of the pumpkins are visible. Crop one more rectangle of yellow patterned paper on the outside of the smallest Rectangle CCS Pattern with the Red Blade and adhere this on the wider blue border in the top third of the strip as shown, then trim off any excess yellow paper overhanging the edge of your layout.

Step 6: Assemble your layout on two sheets of Black Cardstock (or Black Refill Pages). Tip: Try placing your photos on the background first with no adhesive to get an idea of where to best position them. Adhere the borders first, and then the photos as shown, tucking the photo at the bottom left corner under the border.

Step 7: Add ABC/123 stickers to create a title on the yellow section of the border. Position three clusters of Best in Show Stickers on the layout in groups of odd numbers: on the left-hand border, at the top of the right-hand page and at the bottom right-hand corner. You can also add journaling with the Silver Dual-Tip Pen on the black background.

  1. Love the use of the rectangular cutting shapes to get so many different pictures on the pages. Also the layout emphasizes that these pics were taken during competition and shows the excitement! Good job!
