Track Monthly Milestones with these Storytime Baby Scrapbook Borders

The first year of a baby’s life is epic! Every month brings brand new milestones to capture, celebrate and remember. Here’s a way to easily document these big and small monthly moments — create a set of 12 borders, one for each month of baby’s first year. Each month, print several pics and add them to a page layout, along with that month’s border. Jot down milestones and special memories and you’re all set… until next month!

To make it even easier, I’ve created these baby scrapbook borders to coincide with the pages of the Storytime Fast2Fab™ Boy and Girl Albums. Check out the photos at the end for a guide as to which border matches each consecutive layout. Keep the borders simple as shown or add stickers and embellishments that suit your style and your page.

Here are a couple of Fast2Fab™ layouts that demonstrate how you might decorate a layout using these borders in your own baby album:

For this baby boy layout, I simply added the monthly border to one edge, duplicated the banner flags element on the opposite page and topped a mat journal box with the monthly sticker embellishment.

I had so many adorable three-month pictures of this sweet baby girl, so I arranged the layout in a grid pattern to keep it neat. I doubled up the monthly border across the bottom of the layout and cut mats to use for sharing milestones and adding embellishments.

To create these borders you’ll need:

To create the monthly sticker embellishments:

• Girl Layouts: Cut a 2″ x 2″ square for the base. Cut a 1-3/4″ x 1-3/4″ square and punch the opposite corners with the teardrop burst edge of the Essentials 4-Way Punch. Mount on the base and add the numbered sticker on top.
• Boy Layouts: Cut a 2″ x 2″ square for the base and punch opposite corners with the notched edge of the Essentials 4-Way Punch. Cut a 1-3/4″ x 1-3/4″ square, slip corners into the notches on the base and top with a numbered sticker.

1-Month Baby Scrapbook Borders

Step 1: Cut a 2-1/2″ x 12″ strip of patterned paper for the base. Then, cut a 1-3/4″ x 12″ strip of patterned paper and mount on top of the base.

Step 2: Using the Lace Flower Chain (or Button Chain) Border Maker Cartridge, punch a border and mount it down the middle of the border.

Step 3: Using the Rainbow Border Maker Cartridge, punch two borders. Trim off just the top scallops of each and adhere them to either side of the previous adhered border.

Step 4: Create a numbered embellishment using matching paper scraps following the directions above.

2-Month Baby Scrapbook Borders

Step 1: Punch a border using the Heart Duet Border Maker Cartridge. Trim this piece to measure 2-1/4″ x 12″ to create your base.

Step 2: With the 12-inch Trimmer Wave Blade, cut a 1-1/4″ x 12″ strip of patterned paper and adhere to the base. With the Straight Blade, cut a 1″ x 12″ strip and adhere it on top of the wavy strip. Finally, cut a 3/4″ x 12″ strip and adhere it to the top layer.

Step 3: Top the border with the bottle and rattle border sticker.

Step 4: Create a numbered embellishment using matching paper scraps following the directions above.

3-Month Baby Scrapbook Borders

Step 1: Cut a 2-1/4″ x 12″ strip of patterned paper for the base.

Step 2: Using the Midnight Star Border Maker Cartridge, punch a border and trim to measure 2″ x 12″. Punch the other side (using sticky notes to keep the narrow border in place) and adhere to the base.

Step 3: Cut a 3/4″ x 12″ strip of patterned paper and adhere 1/4″ above the lower edge of the midnight star-punched strip.

Step 4: Punch a border with the Star Banner Chain Border Maker Cartridge and adhere it on top of the narrow strip as shown.

Step 5: Create a numbered embellishment using matching paper scraps following the directions above.

4-Month Baby Scrapbook Borders

Step 1: Punch a border with the Scallop Border Punch with a piece of patterned paper. Trim this piece to measure 2-1/4″ x 12″ to create your base.

Step 2: Using the 12-inch Trimmer Wave Blade, cut a 1-1/4″ x 12″ strip and adhere it to the border, just above the scallops. With the 12-inch Trimmer Straight Blade, cut a 1″ x 12″ strip and adhere to the top of the wavy strip.

Step 3: Top with a border sticker as shown.

Step 4: Create a numbered embellishment using matching paper scraps following the directions above.

5-Month Baby Scrapbook Borders

Step 1: Punch a border with the Scallop Burst Border Punch and a piece of patterned paper. Trim this piece to measure 2″ x 12″ to create your base.

Step 2: Cut a 1-1/4″ x 12″ strip of patterned paper and adhere it to the base. Using the 12-inch Trimmer Wave Blade, cut a 7/8″ x 12″ strip of paper and mount on top.

Step 3: Punch a border with the Button Chain Border Maker Cartridge and adhere it on top.

Step 4: Create a numbered embellishment using matching paper scraps following the directions above.

6-Month Baby Scrapbook Borders

Step 1: Using the 12-inch Trimmer Wave Blade, cut a 2-1/4″ x 12″ strip of patterned paper for the base.

Step 2: Trim out a 2″ x 12″ section of the shelf patterned paper and mount it on top of the base.

Step 3: Punch a border using the Winter Vine Border Punch and attach to the bottom edge on the underside of the border.

Step 4: Create a numbered embellishment using matching paper scraps following the directions above.

7-Month Baby Scrapbook Borders

Step 1: Using the 12-inch Trimmer Wave Blade, cut a 1-3/4″ x 12″ strip of patterned paper for the base.

Step 2: Punch a border with the Rainbow Border Maker Cartridge. Trim this piece to measure 2-3/4″ x 12″ and then punch the other side. Trim off the scallops on both sides so that just the lines of holes remain. Adhere this piece to the border and top with a border sticker.

Step 3: Punch a border using the On the Vine Border Punch and attach one edge to the underside of the border.

Step 4: Create a numbered embellishment using matching paper scraps following the directions above.

8-Month Baby Scrapbook Borders

Step 1: Cut a 2″ x 12″ strip of patterned paper for the base. Cut a 1″ x 12″ strip of patterned paper and mount it on top of the base.

Step 2: Using the Sunshine (or Star) Border Maker Cartridge, punch a border with a piece of patterned paper. Adhere it over the narrow strip.

Step 3: Punch three banners using the Banner Flag Punch from a variety of mats. Adhere to the border, tucking just underneath the punched strip as shown.

Step 4: Create a numbered embellishment using matching paper scraps following the directions above.

9-Month Baby Scrapbook Borders

Step 1: Cut a 2-1/2″ x 10-1/2″ strip of patterned paper for the base.

Step 2: Using the 12-inch Trimmer Wave Blade, cut a 2-1/4″ X 10-1/4″ strip of patterned paper and mount it on top of the base. For boys, use the notched edge of the Essentials 4-Way Punch to notch each corner.

Step 3: With the 12-inch Trimmer Straight Blade, cut a 1-7/8″ x 9-7/8″ strip of patterned paper. For girls, punch each corner with the Essentials 4-Way Punch using the teardrop edge. Mount on top of the border.

Step 4: Punch a border with the Rose Chain Border Maker Cartridge and the On the Vine Border Punch (girl) or with the Star Banner Chain Border Maker Cartridge (boy). Trim into 2″ sections and add three to the lower half of the border as shown.

Step 5: Create a numbered embellishment using matching paper scraps following the directions above.

10-Month Baby Scrapbook Borders

Step 1: Punch a border using the Rainbow Border Maker Cartridge and a piece of patterned paper. Trim to 2-1/2″ x 12″ to create your base.

Step 2: Cut a 1/2″ x 12″ strip of striped patterned paper and place it on the left side of the border, about 3/16″ in from the edge. Cut a 1″ x 12″ strip of alphabet patterned paper and place it just to the right of the striped strip. Top with a border sticker.

Step 3: Create a numbered embellishment using matching paper scraps following the directions above.

11-Month Baby Scrapbook Borders

Step 1: Punch a border with the Scallop Border Punch and trim to measure 2-1/4″ x 12″. Punch the other side to create your base.

Step 2: Cut a 1-1/2″ x 12″ strip of patterned paper and mount it on the base so that just one row of scallops show on either side. Top with a border sticker.

Step 3: Punch four hearts using the Double Heart Punch with scrap pieces of paper. Mix and match and mount on the border as shown.

Step 4: Create a numbered embellishment using matching paper scraps following the directions above.

12-Month Baby Scrapbook Borders

Step 1: Using the 12-inch Trimmer Wave Blade, cut a 2″ x 12″ strip of patterned paper for the base. With the 12-inch Trimmer Straight Blade, cut a 1-3/4″ x 12″ strip of patterned paper and mount on top of the base.

Step 2: Adhere the books border sticker to the border just above the middle of the border.

Step 3: Punch two borders with the Moon & Stars Border Maker Cartridge and adhere them, overlapping each other, and the books sticker to the border.

Step 4: Create a numbered embellishment using matching paper scraps following the directions above.
