It’s arranged into Bold, Cheerful and Soft combinations that can easily be mixed and matched with each other (and with other collections!). The endless pairing possibilities allow you to create new looks and layers for your pages, projects and especially borders! Blog contributor Krislyn recently took on the challenge of designing a variety of rainbow scrapbook borders by combining all of Rainbow Rush — take a look at what she was able to create by blending all that beauty!

Krislyn’s Inspiration

I have three different border designs for you. I created one border of each design using the Bold, Cheerful and Soft Rainbow Rush combinations. Then I added an exciting variation by pairing a Rainbow Rush combo with a different Creative Memories collection. The results are fun, wildly hued and show that there is truly a rainbow of possibilities with Rainbow Rush! What can YOU come up with?

To create these borders you’ll need:

Now, let’s break it down and create each of the three border designs!

Border 1: Dips & Diamonds Three-for-All Border

Step 1: Using the Dips & Diamonds Border Maker Cartridge, punch a border with striped patterned paper. Trim it to measure 2-1/2″ x 12″ to create the base.

Step 2: Punch another Dips & Diamonds border with a different designer paper. Trim it to measure 2″ x 12″ and adhere it to the base so the straight edge covers all but the bottom waves of the striped base, as shown.

Step 3: Punch a third Dips & Diamonds border with a third designer paper. Trim it to measure 1″ x 12″. Cut a 1/2″ x 12″ strip of a solid designer paper and tuck it behind the patterns. Adhere it to the second piece so the straight edge covers all but the bottom waves, as shown.

Step 4: Cluster several leaf stickers along the right side of the border. Top it with a title sticker, popped up with Foam Squares.

Border 2: Rounds and Weaves Border

Step 1: Cut a 2-3/4″ x 12″ strip of wide striped paper for the base. Cut a 2-1/8″ x 12″ strip of White Cardstock and adhere it to the base.

Step 2: Punch a border with the Basketweave Border Punch and a piece of solid designer paper. Cut it in half lengthwise. Adhere one half to the top edge of the White Cardstock strip and the other half to the bottom edge.

Step 3: Cut a 1-1/4″ x 12″ strip of printed designer paper and mount it on top of the basketweave pieces. Cut a 1/2″ x 12″ strip of another printed designer paper and adhere it on top.

Step 4: Cut a round laser border embellishment in half and mount it on the left side of the border, about 1″ from the edge and just below the 1-1/4″ strip. Top it with a layered title embellishment.

Border 3: Lacy Layered Border

Step 1: Using the Lace Trim Border Punch, punch a border with a piece of solid designer paper and trim it to measure 3-1/4″ x 12″. Punch the other side of the border with the Lace Trim Border Punch to create the base.

Step 2: Cut a 2-1/8″ x 12″ strip of printed designer paper and adhere it to the base so just the top scallops peek out, as shown. Cut a 1″ x 12″ strip of printed designer paper and adhere it on top, about 1/4″ from the lower edge of the second piece. Top it with a layered border embellishment.

Step 3: Add word stickers and flower embellishments as desired.
