Add an Industrial Edge to Your Layouts with these Complementing Scrapbook Border Duos

Designing a single scrapbook border is one thing but have you ever attempted to create complementing scrapbook border duos? They’re a great way to emphasize your layout’s theme and really pull a page together. Blog contributor Krislyn recently took on the challenge of coming up with five different vintage scrapbook border duos using the Memoirs & Memories collection and the Timeworn Texture Paper Pack. Take a look at her ideas and see how the borders add a one-two punch to any project.

Krislyn’s Inspiration

Textures, shapes and patterns pulled from vintage industrial imagery made for a fun border challenge! I paired the Timeworn Texture Paper Pack with the Memoirs & Memories Collection and added industrial shapes with the Gears Chain Border Maker Cartridge and modified the Picket Fence Border Maker Cartridge, among others. The resulting border duos will complement photos of your family heritage, military service, time spent with Dad, concerts, performances and more!

To create these borders you’ll need:

Step 1: Tear a 2-3/4″ x 12″ strip of Memoirs & Memories map patterned paper for the base. Cut a narrow 1/4″ x 12″ strip of White Cardstock and adhere it to the base 1/8″ from the top (straight) edge.

Step 2: Using the Picket Fence Border Maker Cartridge, punch a border from Timeworn Texture brown leather patterned paper. Cut off 1/2″ from the pointed end of the border. Trim the piece to measure 1-3/4″ x 12″ and adhere it to the base so just 1/8″ of the white strip shows.

Step 3: Using the Jumbo Jet Border Maker Cartridge, punch a border with White Cardstock. Tuck the jumbo jet strip just underneath the brown strip and situate them so they look like banner flags.

Step 4: Using the Gears Chain Border Maker Cartridge, punch one border each with White Cardstock and Timeworn Texture rusty patterned paper. Overlap and adhere them to the middle of the brown strip. Place the bolt border sticker just underneath that and add other stickers as desired.

This will be the base of the border.

Step 2: Cut a 2-1/8″ x 12″ strip of Memoirs & Memories black dot patterned paper and adhere it to the base. Cut a 1-5/8″ x 12″ strip of Timeworn Texture distressed patterned paper and mount it on the border.
