Noreen’s Inspiration

I’m a bit embarrassed to admit it, but I’m THAT mom… you know, the one who loves to create fun little gifts for my kid to share with their classmates for each and every holiday or to add to place settings on the dinner table. Valentine’s Day is no different, so I was excited to create some sweet gifts using the beautiful Daydreamer collection and the Floral Circle Punch!

Check out this video and the instructions below to make these sweet gifts!

Floral Circle “Purses”

Fill a plastic snack-size zipper bag with treats and present them in these cute and creative purse-shaped holders.

To create this project, you will need:

Step 1: Cut a piece of Daydreamer patterned paper to measure 4″ x 12″. Cut a piece of Beige Cardstock to measure 6″ x 12″. Adhere the Daydreamer paper onto the Beige Cardstock.

Step 2: Place the 6″ side in the Floral Circle Punch and punch both corners. Turn it over and punch two tabbed ends. You will have a half floral circle on one end of the 6″ x 12″ piece.

Step 3: Place the Scoring Blade in the 12-inch Trimmer. Place the cardstock in the trimmer with the long edge toward the top. Score a straight line where the half floral circle begins.

Step 4: Move the opposite edge of the cardstock to the 5-1/4″ mark on the trimmer base and score it. Move it to the 3-1/2″ mark on the trimmer base and score it again.

Step 5: Fold along all score lines to form a triangle shape, with the floral half circle folded over the triangle, like a purse flap.

Step 6: Fill a snack-size zippered bag with Valentine’s treats. Place it on the folded purse base and staple the bag to the inside back of the purse, folding in the edges if it’s too wide.

Step 7: Trim a Daydreamer mat to measure 3″ x 5-1/2″ and adhere it to the inside front of the purse with a Tape Runner. Write a sentiment or message on it with Black or Brown Dual-Tip Pen. (Alternatively, simply write your message directly on the inside front flap.)

Step 8: Fold up the purse with the floral circle edge on the front. Use a dab of Repositionable Adhesive to hold the flap closed. Add an embellishment with a Foam Square to finish it off.

Tip: These would be extra cute with a slim cardstock strip or ribbon added to the top to make a handle for the purse!

Floral Circle Pockets

These pretty pockets are the perfect size to slip a mini chocolate bar or pre-packaged treats into and couldn’t be easier to make.

To create this project, you will need:

Step 1: Cut two pieces of paper to measure 6″ x 6″. Using the Floral Circle Punch, punch two circles from the papers (one will be the back of the pocket and one will be the front).

Step 2: Cut down 3″ between the scallops on one of the floral circles. Tip: Use the white line on the side of the blade housing to indicate where to stop cutting.

Step 3: Fold the two cut sides down, aligning the floral patterns on the punched edges. Adhere with Repositionable Adhesive.

Step 4: Adhere the two floral circles together along the punched edges with Repositionable Adhesive and press firmly.

Step 5: Adhere an embellishment to the front with Foam Squares. Gently squeeze the pocket open so you can slip the treats inside.

Floral Circle Boxes

I love these boxes for placing on a table at a dinner or party. They are so simple to make and you can fill them with just enough treats for a sweet ending to a meal!

To create this project, you will need:

Step 1: Cut a piece of patterned paper to measure 6″ x 6″ and punch using the Floral Circle Punch.

Step 2: Place the punched circle into the 12-inch Trimmer with one edge at the 4″ line on the base of the trimmer. There should be about six scallops to the right of the cutting/scoring line. Score, then turn the floral circle 90° and score again. Repeat this two more times, so you have four intersecting score lines. Fold along the score lines.

Step 3: Using All-Purpose Scissors, snip along one score line until it meets the next intersecting score line. Turn the floral circle 90° and repeat until you have four asymmetric cuts in it.

Step 4: Add Repositionable Adhesive to the four “flaps” that you created. Fold each one toward the inside back of the next piece and adhere. You will have a little 3D box!

Step 5: Adhere a 2″ x 2″ piece of cardstock to the inside bottom of the box for stability (especially important when making these boxes from patterned paper).

Step 6: Wrap a piece of cardstock that measures 1/2″ x 12″ around the outside of the box for an extra decorative detail. Trim off any excess.

Step 7: Finish by adding an embellishment to cover the cut edge of the band. Fill the box with small treats and place on the table!

Have fun with these Valentine keepsake ideas and think about all the ways you can adapt them for other holidays and celebrations as well. Which one will you try first? Let us know in the comments below!
