Have Fun Getting Out of the House with these Outdoor Scrapbook Borders

The Genuine collection is made up of all kinds of rugged and natural elements that make it perfect for outdoor projects. When you combine them with some border-making punches and tools, you can create outdoor scrapbook borders that add a fresh look to your layouts. Check out what blog contributor Krislyn was able to make!

I couldn’t be more excited to play with the Genuine collection! The earthy, masculine feel is perfect for pages with both photos of the guys in your life and anything outdoorsy, like vacations, camping, hiking and more! I had fun pairing the collection with our more rustic tools, like the Gears Chain, Cable Chain and Timeless Tweed Border Maker Cartridges, and of course, the Majestic Mountains Border Punch.

To create these borders you’ll need:

Down to Earth Border

Step 1: Cut a 12″ x 3″ piece of dusty blue patterned paper for the base.

Step 2: Using the Timeless Tweed Border Maker Cartridge, punch two borders with wood grain patterned paper. Cut a 12″ x 2-1/4″ strip of dark green patterned paper. Mount it on the base, tucking a tweed border behind the long sides, as shown.

Step 3: Using the Gear Chain Border Maker Cartridge and Bronze Shimmer Cardstock, punch every other “stop” along the edge (three punches). Using the Cable Chain Border Maker Cartridge, punch the remaining stops. Repeat twice with the stripe patterned paper. Adhere this to the border, using the photo as a guide.

Step 4: Adhere the “Down to Earth” laser cut embellishment and star stickers with Foam Squares.

It’s the Little Things Border

Step 1: Cut a 3-1/4″ x 12″ strip of plaid patterned paper for the base. Cut a 2-1/4″ x 12″ strip of cream patterned paper and adhere it to the base, about 1/4″ from the left edge.

Step 2: Cut two strips of brown tweed patterned paper to measure 1/2″ x 12″ and adhere them to either side of the cream piece. Using the Timeless Tweed Border Maker Cartridge, punch a border with light green and then navy patterned paper. Adhere them to the border, as shown.

Step 3: Adhere the “It’s the Little Things” laser cut embellishment and foliage stickers with Foam Squares. Add an arrow sticker.

Step 1: Punch a border with the Majestic Mountains Border Punch with navy patterned paper. Trim it to measure 12″ x 3-1/2″ to create the base. Punch another mountain border with dusty blue patterned paper. Trim it to measure 12″ x 3-1/4″ and mount it on the base.

Step 2: Using the 12-inch Trimmer Deckle Blade, cut a 12″ x 1/2″ strip of wood grain patterned paper and a 12″ x 1-1/2″ strip of striped paper. Adhere them to the border, as shown.

Step 3: Adhere an arrows border sticker on top of a rusty border sticker and place them on the border. Adhere a foliage border sticker using Foam Squares.

Live it Up Border

Step 1: Using the 12-inch Trimmer Deckle Blade, cut a 2-3/4″ x 12″ strip of brown tweed patterned paper for the base. Cut a 3/4″ x 12″ strip of stripe patterned paper and tuck it just behind the base, as shown.

Step 2: Cut a 2-1/2″ x 1-7/8″ piece of light green patterned paper, a 2-1/2″ x 1-7/8″ piece of wood grain patterned paper, a 2-1/2″ x 2-3/4″ piece of dusty blue patterned paper, a 2-1/2″ x 1-1/2″ piece of blue tweed patterned paper and a 2-1/2″ x 2-3/4″ piece of dark green patterned paper. Arrange them on the border, as shown.

Step 3: Punch one green and two dark charcoal trees from pieces of mats using the Pine Tree Punch. Adhere them with Foam Squares to the border.
