Pamper Yourself this Mother’s Day

Sunday is Mother’s Day, and this year we’re feeling extra appreciative of all the moms across the world. There are so many mothers out there who have taken on an extra workload in the past few months. Whether they’re tackling the front lines, working remotely while juggling a home environment, homeschooling, taking care of sick loved ones or creating magic from the pantry night after night, mothers everywhere are always proving to be superheroes. That’s why we’ve compiled some ways for mothers to pamper themselves with some scrapbooking this weekend. Check them out!

A Reason to Scrapbook

We’re sure some mothers are feeling a bit overwhelmed from everything that’s been going on in the past few weeks. However, this is a time when focusing on fond memories is majorly therapeutic to your psyche. If you’ve been feeling stressed or anxious lately, we hope you are able to take some time for yourself and all that you love — try spending an afternoon to focus on your albums (or any other hobbies/interests you may have). You deserve it, and we’re sure that your family feels the same way.

Songs To Scrapbook To

Was one of your Mother’s Day wishes to be left alone so you can scrapbook? (It’s okay, you can be honest!) If so, make sure you aren’t doing it in complete silence! We’ve created a “Songs To Scrapbook To” playlist to jam out to and to get your creative juices flowing. Click on it below to start listening or find it on Spotify — be sure to give it a follow and listen!

Mother’s Day Sketch Idea

If you do feel like getting crafty on Mother’s Day, then we have the perfect project for you to try out! Share it with us on Facebook by tagging @CreativeMemories #MothersDay.

Layout created by Alison D. — Home Office

First, watch the video above. These directions are meant to complement the video and will be difficult to understand if you do not watch the video.

Step 1: Use the large CCS Circle with the Red Blade to cut two circles (you can choose to use one or two sheets of designer paper depending upon the design you would like to create).

Step 2: Fold one of these circles in half and do the following 3 steps:
a. Using your 12-inch Trimmer, cut it in half.
b. Stack the half circles and fold in half again.
c. Cut these half circles in half again.

Step 3: Fold the other large circle in half and do the following 3 steps:
a. Using your 12-inch Trimmer, cut it in half.
b. Stack the half circles and fold in half again.
c. Cut these half circles in half again.

Step 4: Now, you will have 8 triangle circles – lay them out like the sketch.

Step 5: Place photos, mats and embellishments down and journal as desired to match the sketch.

Step 6: To create the floral embellishment, cut a 2″ x 2″ piece of paper and fold in half. Then, use the Corner Rounder and snip the edge of the FOLDED corner. Then, snip the other folded corner. Unfold the square and then refold it in the other direction. Again, snip the two edges that are folded. Unfold the square and you will have created a flower! Pinch the edges to get a “relief” effect.

My Mom’s A Superhero: A Mother’s Day Poem

I think my mom’s a superhero
Believe me, I know it’s true
Because it would take a superhero
To do the things she can do

She’s always up before the sun
(Which seems impossible, I might say)
She’s all dressed and makes breakfast
Before I even start my day

After that, she’s off to work
And there she really shines
She spends her days making people’s lives better
Just like she does for mine

Her superpowers really show
Where she rises above for all
What superpowers does she have?
Let’s do a quick role call:

She’s super caring and crafty
And she’s patient like no other
She has all the smarts and skills (plus some)
That it takes to be a mother

Once her workday is done
It doesn’t mean she’s off the clock
It means she’s starting her second job
Acting as our family’s rock

She cooks, she cleans, she cares for us
She really does it all
And she’ll help me with any problem
No matter how big or small

Lately, mom’s been working harder
Her powers have been put to the test
But these days she gets twice as much done
With just half her usual rest

Every year on Mother’s Day
I try my best to say thanks
But no amount of flowers or chocolates
Are sufficient to re-pay her loving ranks

So, this year, I’m trying something different
A new way to surprise her
Although I likely won’t succeed
I’m going to try to be like her

“Try to be like a superhero?
Isn’t that goal a bit lofty?”
Yeah, the bar is set pretty high
But I never forget who taught me

So, go ahead and read those comics
And tune in to see an action movie
But I can see a superhero anytime
Because she’s standing right next to me

When it comes to having a great mother
I think I may have won
Actually, I don’t think my mom’s a superhero
Because I know that she is one
