Creatively Cradle The First Year With These 12 Baby Scrapbook Borders

The first year of a baby’s life definitely flies by as new milestones happen almost daily. But you can document those precious and fleeting moments easily with projects dedicated to each month of your little one’s first year. Take a look for yourself as blog contributor Krislyn recently created 12 baby scrapbook borders to commemorate that adorable timeframe!

Create a border and coordinating monthly banner for each month and use them to decorate your layouts. Then, you can record milestones on mats from the Variety Mat Pack. I’ve used the Little Dreamer Fast2Fab™ Refill as the base for my layout above.

To create these borders you’ll need:

One-Month Border

Step 1: Cut a 2-1/4″ x 12″ strip of gray striped patterned paper for the base.

Step 2: Using the 12-inch Trimmer Scallop Blade, cut a 2″ x 12″ strip of light blue star/moon patterned paper and adhere to the base. With the 12-inch Trimmer Straight Blade, cut a 1″ x 12″ strip of sleeping animal patterned paper and adhere to the border.

Step 3: Using the Moon & Stars Chain Border Maker Cartridge (or any BMC you like), punch a border with gold stars patterned paper. Adhere to the border.

Step 4: Top with embellishments.

Two-Months Border

Step 1: Cut a 1-3/4″ x 12″ strip of White Cardstock for the base.

Step 2: Cut a 1/4″ x 12″ strip of gray striped patterned paper and adhere to the right side of the base. Cut a 3/4″ x 12″ strip of blue patterned paper and mount next to the striped paper. Adhere a tabs border sticker to the left side of the base.

Step 3: Punch a border with the Spring Leaf Chain Border Maker Cartridge and green dot patterned paper. Adhere to the border. Punch another with dark blue patterned paper and tuck behind the right side of the border so just the scallops show.

Step 4: Top with stickers.

Three-Months Border

Step 1: Using the Scallop Burst Border Punch, punch a border with gold star patterned paper to create the base.

Step 2: Cut a 1/2″ x 12″ strip of gray dot patterned paper and adhere to the left side of the border, 1/8″ in from the edge. Cut a 1″ x 12″ strip of plaid patterned paper and adhere to the border, leaving a small space to place a green circle border sticker.

Step 3: Top with stickers.

Four-Months Border

Step 1: Cut a 12″ x 2-1/2″ strip of cloud patterned paper for the base.

Step 2: Using the Clouds Border Maker Cartridge, punch two borders with White Cardstock, trimming each to 3/4″ wide. Flip one over and layer the borders on the base as shown.

Step 3: Cut a 12″ x 1-3/8″ strip of gray striped patterned paper and adhere to the bottom of the border. Using the 12-inch Scallop Blade, cut a 12″ x 1″ strip of blue patterned paper and mount on top. Adhere a hearts border sticker on top.

Step 4: Top with stickers and embellishments.

Five-Months Border

Step 1: Using the Dazzle Border Punch, punch a border with dark blue patterned paper. Using the 12-inch Scallop Blade, trim to measure 12″ x 2-1/2″ to create the base.

Step 2: Cut a 12″ x 1/2″ strip of “little dreamer” patterned paper and adhere it to the top of the border, just beneath the scallops. Cut a 12″ x 3/4″ strip of light blue star/moon patterned paper and adhere just below. Top with a gold star string border sticker.

Step 3: Using the inside of the medium Custom Cutting System Circle Pattern and the Green Blade, cut a circle with light blue star/moon patterned paper. Top with the “Twinkle twinkle little star” sticker. Using the red blade, cut a circle with gold star patterned paper. Layer the circles and adhere to the middle of the border.

Six-Months Border

Step 1: Cut a 12″ x 2-1/2″ strip of blue patterned paper for the base. Adhere a clouds border sticker on the top as shown. Cut a 12″ x 1/4″ strip of gray striped patterned paper and adhere near the bottom.

Step 2: Using the On the Road Border Maker Cartridge, punch a border with dark blue patterned paper. Trim to 12″ x 1-1/2″ and adhere to the border. Top with a blocks border sticker.

Step 3: Add stickers.

Seven-Months Border

Step 1: Using the 12-inch Trimmer Scallop Blade, cut a 2-1/4″ x 12″ strip of silver patterned paper. With the 12-inch Trimmer Straight Blade, cut a 1″ x 12″ strip of white dot patterned paper and adhere near the right side of the base.

Step 2: Using the Dazzle Border Punch, punch a border with green dot patterned paper. Trim to measure 1-7/8″ x 12″ and adhere near the left side of the border. Cut a 3/4″ x 12″ strip of plaid patterned paper and mount on top. Add a vine border sticker.

Step 3: Top with embellishments and stickers.

Step 1: Using the 12-inch Trimmer Scallop Blade, cut a 2-3/8″ x 12″ strip of silver patterned paper for the base. Using the 12-inch Trimmer Straight Blade, cut a 2″ x 12″ strip of light green leaf patterned paper and adhere on top.

Step 2: Using the Spring Leaf Chain Border Maker Cartridge, punch two borders with blue patterned paper. Overlap and adhere down the center of the border. Top with a vine border sticker.

Step 3: Add stickers.

Nine-Months Border

Step 1: Using the Lace Trim Border Punch, punch a border with blue patterned paper. Trim to measure 2-1/4″ x 12″ to create the base. Punch a border with gray dot patterned paper. Trim to measure 1-3/4″ x 12″ and adhere on top.

Step 2: Adhere a tabs border sticker and a ruler border sticker on top as shown.

Step 3: Add stickers.

10-Months Border

Step 1: Using the Clouds Border Maker Cartridge, punch a border with blue patterned paper. Trim to measure 12″ x 2-1/4″ to create the base. Punch another clouds border with White Cardstock. Trim to measure 12″ x 3/4″ and mount near the top of the base.

Step 2: Cut a 12″ x 3/4″ strip of gold star patterned paper and adhere underneath the clouds strip. Top with a green circles border sticker.

Step 3: Add stickers.

11-Months Border

Step 1: Cut a 12″ x 2-1/2″ strip of gray striped patterned paper for the base. Cut a 12″ x 2-1/4″ strip of hearts patterned paper and adhere to the base.

Step 2: Using the 12-inch Trimmer Scallop Blade, cut a 12″ x 1-1/4′ strip of light green leaf patterned paper and adhere on top.

Step 3: Using the Crystal Chain Border Maker Cartridge, punch a border with gray dot patterned paper. Adhere on top of the green strip. Top with a “Baby love” border sticker.

Step 4: Add stickers.

12-Months Border

Step 1: Using the Lace Trim Border Punch, punch a border with light green leaf patterned paper. Using the 12-inch Scallop Blade, trim to measure 12″ x 2-1/2″ to create the base.

Step 2: Cut a 12″ x 1-1/2″ strip of silver patterned paper and adhere to the border. Using the 12-inch Scallop Blade, cut a 12″ x 1-1/4″ strip of “little dreamer” patterned paper and adhere on top. Top with a blocks border sticker.

Step 3: Add embellishments.

To Create Monthly Tabs:

Cut a scrap to measure 1-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ and another to measure 1-1/2″ x 1-1/2″. Using a monthly tab embellishment as a guide, cut a notch in one end of both pieces. Layer and add the embellishment and number sticker.
