Sachiyo’s Inspiration — Sunflower Layout

A friendly squirrel must have dropped some sunflower seeds in our backyard, because last summer we randomly had a beautiful sunflower in our yard! This Sun Punch reminds me of the sunflower and a happy summer spent with my family.

To create this layout you will need:

Step 1: Use the sky patterned paper as the base of this layout.

Step 2: Using the Sun Punch, punch two pieces from Orange Cardstock and Goldenrod Cardstock. Adhere one on top of the other piece.

Step 3: Using the inside of the smallest Custom Cutting System Circle Pattern, cut two pieces from Bronze Shimmer Cardstock with the Green Blade, and then Rich Brown Cardstock with the Blue Blade. Adhere the brown circle on top of the bronze piece. Adhere it to the sun pieces.

Step 4: Using the Grassland Border Punch, punch a border from Dark Green and Leaf Green Cardstock. Cut the borders at 1″ width and adhere them to the base.

Step 5: Using the Simple Leaf Chain Border Maker Cartridge, punch a few pieces of leaves from Dark Green and Leaf Green Cardstock. Cut a few pieces of leaves and stem from Leaf Green Cardstock with the All-Purpose Scissors. Adhere the stem, leaves and sunflower as shown. Add Foam Squares on the back of the sunflower to pop it up.

Sachiyo’s Inspiration — Lion Border

When I opened the box of the Sun Punch, my 3-year-old boy was flipping through the pages of his picture book, which is about a lion and jackal. As soon as my boy saw the punch, he shouted, “Mom, you got the lion punch!” So, here’s the lion border!

To create this border you will need:

Step 1: Using the 12-inch Trimmer, cut a 2″ x 12″ strip of Goldenrod Cardstock for the base.

Step 2: Using the Double Wave Tearing Tool, tear a few pieces of Rich Brown Cardstock to measure 12″ x 1/2″. Tear the border into small pieces by hand and adhere them to the base. Trim the excess.

Step 3: Cut a 2-1/4″ strip of Bronze Shimmer Cardstock and 2-1/2″ of Brown Cardstock using the 12-inch Trimmer Stamping Blade and adhere them under the base.

Step 4: Punch Leaf Green Cardstock to make a border with the Grassland Border Punch and cut the border at 1″ with the 12-inch Trimmer. Repeat the same with Dark Green Cardstock and cut it at 1-1/8.” Adhere to the border.

Step 5: Use a few pieces of Goldenrod, Rich Brown, Bronze Shimmer, Black and Dark Sea Green Cardstock to make the following shapes for the lion:

  • Head – Cut Goldenrod Cardstock with the small Custom Cutting System Circle Pattern on the inside with the Green Blade.
  • Mane – Punch a piece of Goldenrod and Rich Brown Cardstock with the Sun Punch.
  • Eyes & Mouth – Punch a piece of Black Cardstock with the Dips & Diamond Border Maker Cartridge. Use the diamond-shaped pieces for the eyes. For the mouth, trim with the All-Purpose Scissors as shown.
  • Nose – Punch a piece of Black Cardstock with the Crystal Chain Border Maker Cartridge. Trim with All-Purpose Scissors as shown.
  • Body – Cut Goldenrod Cardstock with the small Custom Cutting System Circle Pattern on the inside with the Red Blade.

Step 6: Start to assemble the lion piece by piece using Repositionable Tape. Add Foam Squares on the back of the mane to pop it up.

Step 7: Using the inside of the largest Custom Cutting System Circle Pattern and the Blue Blade, cut a circle from Bronze Shimmer Cardstock. Cut the outside of the circle with the All-Purpose Scissors to make fringes. Adhere it to the border.

Step 8: Using the inside of the medium Custom Cutting System Circle Pattern and the Red Blade, cut a circle from Dark Sea Green Cardstock. Mount it on top of the bronze shimmer circle. Top with the lion.
