Layer on the Festivities With These Christmas Scrapbook Layouts

Have you ever created a project with one of our Laser Cut Paper Packs? These unique, decorative paper packs give you all sorts of innovative possibilities in terms of layering, framing and more. To create this layout you’ll need:

Step 1: Use a piece of plaid patterend paper as the base for this layout.

Step 2: Cut a piece of medium green patterned paper to measure 10-3/4″ x 10-3/4″ and adhere to the base. Cut a piece of White Solid Cardstock to measure 10-1/4″ x 10-1/4″ and adhere to the layout.

Step 3: Select the candies and candy cane laser cut paper. Using it as a guide, cut three photos to fit the slots (4″ x 4″, 6″ x 4″ and oval cut using the outside of the second-smallest Custom Cutting System Oval Pattern and the Green Blade). If desired, cut small circles with White Solid Cardstock to fill in candy spots over the photos. Adhere all to the back of the laser cut paper and mount on the layout.

Step 4: Add stickers and journal as desired.

To create this layout you’ll need:

Step 1: Use a sheet of cardstock or a refill page as the base for this layout.

Step 2: Using the ornaments laser cut paper as a guide, cut strips of designer papers to fit behind the “lines” of the ornaments. Adhere the papers to the base.

Step 3: Using the ornaments laser cut paper as a guide, cut three photos to fit the slots. Cut two photos into circles using the outside of the smallest Custom Cutting System Circle Pattern and the Green Blade. Adhere them inside the laser cut paper photo slots. Cut one circle using the inside of the largest Custom Cutting System Circle Pattern and the Red Blade. Cut a mat from evergreen tips paper using the outside of the smallest Custom Cutting System Circle Pattern and the Red Blade. Cut a second mat from wood grain paper using the same pattern and the Green Blade. Layer these and adhere to the top of the laser cut paper using Foam Squares.

Step 4: Cut scraps of paper to place behind the smaller ornament cut-out shapes as desired. Adhere the laser cut paper to the layout.

Step 5: Add stickers and journal as desired.

  2. I must agree with Marie! To me, the important part of scrapbook is the joyous and the story they tell. With all the stickers/embellishments used here it definitely distracts from the photos! I know it’s personal preference, but I could never do anything that takes away from my family’s photos!!!

  4. Totally agree with the others, way too busy. Layouts are cute and would probably look fine with maybe one patterned paper behind it, but with several different patterns going on, its just too much. I have trouble using pattern paper behind my pictures for just that reason. Distracting.

  5. I find these layouts too busy . Your focus is mainly of the embellishments and it should be on the photo.

  8. I like the candy cane layout but agree that the ornament layout overwhelms those photos & draws your eye to the decorations instead. Perhaps because the plaid is too large of a print. I was taught that “no figure in the print should be bigger than the smallest face in your photos” and many of the square shapes formed by the plaid are quite large. The other prints are smaller & more subtle, so don’t clash as much, but I’d still prefer to maybe use only 3 – too many “stripes” behind an already complex design. The concept of varying background prints is unique & creative, though! If the photos were closeups it might feel different.

  9. I agree with most of the comments above. I have been scrapbooking for twenty-two years and want my pictures and their story to be the main thing you see when you look at the page. With these pages, the pictures are the last thing I see and you hunt for the story.

I think the ornament laser cut would be beautiful on the evergreen designer paper in the pack which is how I intend to use the ones I purchased, but agree that the layout shown is overwhelmingly busy and detracts from the photos. I like the Christmas baking layout with the candy canes laser cut because it does have a solid color background.

  13. Beautiful layout and I think if YOU like it that’s all that matters. The great thing about CM is that we get to our scrapbooks OUR way! Some layouts require little, some are meant to be over-the-top!! Happy Scrapping!
