Dynamic Duo: Create Both Simple and Decorative Scrapbook Layouts With The Boho Escape Collection

Sometimes, you only have mere minutes to create and other times you can squeeze in a bit more and add that extra sticker or two. Luckily, no matter how much time you have, you can take the same basic supplies and groundwork and come up with multiple crafting opportunities! Blog contributor Noreen Smith recently used the beautiful Boho Escape collection and the new Mirrored Triangles Border Maker Cartridge to create two layouts — a more simple scrapbook layout and an elevated (and simply fabulous!) decorative scrapbook layout! Dive into this dynamic duo below!

Watch the video to see how easy it is to create either (or both!) the simple or simply fabulous layouts, or follow along with the written instructions below.

To create the simple layout you will need:

Step 1: Insert a 12″ x 12″ paper into the guide of the original Border Maker System and punch one border strip with the Mirrored Triangles Border Maker Cartridge.

Step 2: Turn paper 90 degrees and insert into the guide of Original Border Maker System. Punch a second border strip from this shorter edge with the Mirrored Triangles Border Maker Cartridge. You will now have one 12″ border strip, one 11″ border strip and one large square.

Step 3: Adhere the large square to the bottom left-hand corner of another piece of 12″ x 12″ paper. Adhere the long border along the right-hand side of the base page, and the short border across the top of the base page with adhesive.

Step 4: Add five photos — two 6″ x 4″ and three 3″ x 3″ — to layout as shown with adhesive.

Step 5: Add a stickers and sticker title to the middle of photo block.

To create the simply fabulous layout you will need:

Step 1: Follow Steps 1 and 2 above to yield one 12″ border strip, one 11″ border strip and one large square.

Step 2: Using the 12-inch Trimmer, cut a 9-1/2″ square from the middle of the base page, leaving an outside frame intact. To do this, place paper in the trimmer at 1-1/4″ and use the white line of the side of the blade housing to start your cut at 1-1/4″ and end at 10-3/4″. Repeat on all four sides. Set aside the outside frame. Turn the 9-1/2″ square to display the pattern on the opposite side.

Step 3: Use 12-inch Trimmer to cut it into five photo mats — two measuring 6-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ and three measuring 3-1/4″ square. Mat photos — two 6″ x 4″ and three 3″ x 3″ — with adhesive.

Step 4: Align and adhere the large square from Step 1 over the gutted base page. Adhere photos in the same arrangement as in the simple layout.

Step 5: Place border strips between the rows of photos as shown, trimming off any overhang. Add a title sticker and embellishments as shown or desired.

    1. The design is a fresh idea, but the colors (or rather, the lack of color) of this collection is very drab. They are just ugly. Same for the winter collection – faded and drab.

  1. Thank you for the lovely pages! And especially for making it a page with more than 2-3 photos!! Great options and LOVE the new Boho Escape design!

  2. I’ve just re-created your design using different papers …. I love it and will use the design many times over and over! Thank you for being an inspiration!
