This Birthday Scrapbook Layout Serves Up Sweetness

When talking about birthdays, it’s hard to not bring up (or light up or slice up!) a totally delicious and sugary treat — the cake. While some of us prefer the classic chocolate or vanilla offerings, others may find tastes such as mocha, lemon, salted caramel, carrot, funfetti (and more!), irresistible. Step 1: Use a blue “confetti” dots paper as the base for this layout. Cut a 2″ x 12″ strip of blue gingham paper and adhere to the left side of the layout.

Step 2: Cut three variety mats to 3″ x 2″ sections, using the 12-inch Trimmer with the Scallop Blade to cut the bottom edge of each. Round the corners of the top piece with the 2-Way Corner Rounder. Overlap and adhere these “cake layers,” as shown, to the left side of the layout. Cut a 3-3/4″ x 1/2″ piece of a kraft grid mat and tuck under the bottom layer of the “cake.”

Step 3: Mat a 6″ x 4″ photo with a 6-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ variety mat and adhere to the layout. Crop two photos to measure 3-1/4″ x 5″ and one photo to measure 3-1/2″ x 5″. Mat the latter on a 4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of a kraft grid mat, trimming the bottom of the mat using the 12-inch Trimmer with the Scallop Blade. Adhere photos to the layout.

Step 4: Add embellishments, popping some up with Foam Squares for added dimension.

Step 5: Journal as desired.
