Pay Homage to the Comforts of Home With This Farmhouse Chic Scrapbook Spread

Dorothy was spot-on: There’s no place like home. Sure, when you look at it from the outside, a home is just a “house.” A building of bricks and wood. Maybe a yard. But a home is more than that — it’s a place to build and craft memories with family, friends and furry acquaintances over time. It’s a feeling of love, comfort, happiness and care. But no matter what or where you call home, this farmhouse chic scrapbook spread is set to construct a solid foundation for your at-home memories!

To create this layout you will need:

Step 1: Use the Charcoal Solid Cardstock as the base for the spread.

Step 2: Cut two pieces of black plaid paper to measure 11-1/2″ x 11-1/2″. Adhere to the lower left corner of the right page and the lower right corner of the left page.

Step 3: To create the house:

  • Cut a piece of shiplap paper to measure 5″ x 5″.
  • Cut a piece of light mini anemones paper to measure 5″ x 5″. Cut in half from corner to corner with your trimmer to create two triangles. Take one of the triangles and place on top of the previous shiplap piece.
  • Cut two strips of the brown leather paper to measure 12″ x 1/2″. Cut one end of each with the 45-degree angle on the 12-inch Trimmer. Adhere with the points on the top tip of the previous triangle piece. Use a scissors to trim the “roof” at a desired length.
  • Cut a piece of the reclaimed wood paper to measure 1-3/4″ x 3″ for the door. Adhere to the house.
  • Cut two pieces from the brushed metal paper to measure 12″ x 1/4″. Cut these strips into six 2-1/2″ segments. Create and adhere the “window” with these.

Step 4: Cut two pieces of mini anemones paper to measure 3″ x 11-1/2″. Adhere along the inside edges of the black plaid designer paper.

Step 5: Using the 12-inch Trimmer and the Victorian Blade, cut two pieces of the dark green leaves paper to measure 11-1/2″ x 1″. Adhere along the bottom edges of the black plaid paper.

Step 6: Using the 12-inch Trimmer with the Victorian Blade, cut two pieces of the teal tiles paper to measure 11-1/2” x 1/2″.  Adhere along the bottom edge of the previous dark green leaves paper.

Step 7: With the brown leather paper, cut a total of five photo mats measuring: (3) 4-1/4″ x 6-1/4″, (1) 5-1/4″ x 4-1/4″, (1) 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″. Mat your photos. Photo sizes will be (2) 4″ x 6″, (1) 6″ x 4″, (1) 5″ x 4″, (1) 4″ x 4″.

Step 8: Using the 12-inch Trimmer, cut two mats from the light plaid paper to measure 5-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ and 6-1/2″ x 4-1/2″. Double mat the top two photos. Adhere all photos to the spread as shown.

Step 9: Adhere a large mat. Adhere stickers and embellishments to the left side of the mat, leaving the right side to journal on. Journal as desired.

Step 10: Adhere stickers and embellishments to the rest of the spread, using Foam Squares on some for added dimension.
