Illuminate Bright Ideas With These Summer Crafts: Scrapbook Borders and Card

Early dawns, longer sunlit days, shorter nights — summer is a sun-soaked sensation of a season! Whether you’re in the Northern Hemisphere currently enjoying fun-in-the-sun memories or in the Southern Hemisphere dreaming of warm-weather delights, the Summertime collection will have you walking (and crafting!) on sunshine all year round! Check out these summer crafts — scrapbook borders and a card — and illuminate bold ideas that really turn up the heat!

To create these borders and card, you will need:

Feeling Hot Hot Hot Card

Step 1: Use a blank card from the Blank Card Kit as the base.

Step 2: Cut a piece of Navy Solid Cardstock to measure 4″ x 5-1/4″. Adhere to card.

Step 3: Cut a piece of lime green and white beach towel stripes paper to measure 3-3/4″ x 5″.

Step 4: Using Border Maker System with the Lamplight Chain Border Maker Cartridge, punch several borders from a variety of papers. Adhere across the front of the lime green and white beach towel stripes paper. 

Step 5: Trim any excess with a scissors. Adhere this piece to the front of the card.

Step 6: Adhere stickers for title, using Foam Squares for added dimension.

Summer Days Border

Step 1: Cut a piece of poppy blue palm leaves paper to measure 12″ x 1-1/2″. 

Step 2: Using Border Maker System with the Lamplight Chain Border Maker Cartridge, punch two borders from the hot pink tropical flowers paper and one from the yellow pineapples paper. Save the excess pieces.

Step 3: Cut a piece of the dotted paper to measure 12″ x 1/4″. Adhere along the bottom edge of the poppy blue palm leaves paper.

Step 41: Using the excess pieces from the hot pink tropical flowers border, adhere along the edge of the dotted paper.

Step 5: Flip over the remaining excess pieces from the hot pink tropical flowers border, adhering along the top edge of the poppy blue palm leaves paper.

Step 6: Adhere the yellow pineapples border in between the excess pieces.

Step 7: Cut a strip from tropical green leaves and a strip from the lime green white beach towel stripes papers to measure 12″ x 1″. Place these pieces along the back of the border, having some extend beyond the border on the top and bottom.

Step 8: Adhere stickers using Foam Squares for added dimension.

Summer Break Border

Step 1: Cut a piece of the poppy blue palm leaves paper using the 12-inch Trimmer and the Wave Blade to measure 3″ x 12″. 

Step 2: Cut a piece of Navy Solid Cardstock to measure 2-1/2″ x 12″. 

Step 3: Cut a piece of yellow pineapples paper to measure 5″ x 1-1/2″. Adhere at an angle across the middle of the Navy Solid Cardstock. Trim away any excess with scissors.

Step 4: Using the Border Maker System with the Lamplight Chain Border Maker Cartridge, punch several borders from a variety of papers. Adhere at an angle across the cardstock. Overlap the bottom points of the lamplight. Cover the remainder of the cardstock with a variety of borders.

Step 5: Adhere the cardstock piece to the top of the poppy blue palms paper.

Step 6: Adhere stickers using Foam Squares for added dimension.
