Hit the Books With These Back-to-School DIY Bookmarks

It’s that time of year again — school is back in session in North America! And a new school year means new school supplies, so why not corral the kiddos to craft a few of their own? With reading assignments and textbook studies already in the pipeline, your A+ bookworms are going to need to mark their places in their books and to keep the chapters moving forward! Back to school is totally cool with these DIY bookmarks that you and your students, kiddos, grandkids (and yourself!) can make — from corner flags to popsicle markers… no more dog-earing the corners!

To create these bookmarks, you will need:

Paper Clip Bookmark

Step 1: Cut a 2″ x 6″ strip of any patterned paper.

Step 2: Fold the paper in half. Notch the ends into a flag shape.

Step 3: Slide through a large paper clip. Adhere the layers together.

Step 4: Apply stickers as desired.

Step 3: Place a popsicle stick between the layers. Adhere together using the Precision Point Adhesive Pen and Tape Runner.

Step 4: Apply stickers as desired.

Magnetic Flap Bookmark

Step 1: Cut a 2″ x 12″ strip of cardstock. Fold in half.

Step 2: Adhere a round magnet to the inside of both the top and bottom of the cardstock so they match up.

Step 3: Cut a 1-3/4″ x 5-3/4″ strip of any patterned paper. Adhere to the front of the bookmark. Add stickers.

Step 4: Cut a 1-3/4″ x 4-1/4″ strip of white lined designer paper. Adhere to the inside of the bookmark. Add stickers as desired.

Pocket Bookmark

Step 1: Cut a 2″ x 6″ piece of cardstock for the base.

Step 2: Cut a 2-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ piece of patterned paper. Place one long edge on the 45-degree mark on the 12-inch Trimmer with the top corner on the cutting edge. Cut off the corner.

Step 3: Score each side of the pocket at 1/4″ and fold in. Apply Mini Tape Runner Adhesive to the folded edges, as well as the bottom, and adhere the pocket to the base.

Step 4: Cut a 1-3/4″ x 5-1/2″ strip of patterned paper. Snip the top corners. Punch a hole in the top and loop string through and knot. Slip into the pocket. Write “Books:” at the top of this piece.

Step 5: Apply stickers as desired.
