Bask in a Field of Sunflower Crafts: Scrapbook Borders and DIY Card

Sunflowers — a welcoming sight in gardens and fields, greeting the world with their brilliant sunrays petals, whether they’re big and bright yellow blooms or shades of light pink, chocolate brown, two-tone burgundy and purple. And these basking and stately flowers have inspired a plethora of creative people — Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh, English poet William Blake, actress Helen Mirren… and so many more! In fact, these happy flowers have planted their presence onto the CM lineup not only in the Croptoberfest 2021 collection, but also with the recently launched Sunflower Vine Border Punch! (Hint: And it also goes great with the It’s Fall, Y’all collection, too, like in the examples below!) Water your creativity and bloom forth these sunflower crafts — two scrapbook borders and a DIY card — today!

Fall is in the Air Card

Step 1: Cut a piece of Navy Solid Cardstock to measure 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2”. Score at 4-1/4″ and fold in half.

Step 2: Cut a piece of burnt orange leaves tonal paper to measure 5-1/4″ x 4″. Adhere to the card.

Step 3: Cut a piece of grid tonal paper to measure 4-1/2″ x 3-1/4″.

Step 4: Using the Sunflower Vine Border Punch, punch two borders from marigold diamonds designer paper. Adhere the border pieces to the piece of grid paper. Trim along the edges and excess with a scissors. Adhere these to the card.

Step 5: Cut a piece of Navy Solid Cardstock to measure 5″ x 3-3/4″. Use the 12-inch Trimmer to cut out the inside, leaving a 1/2″ frame. Adhere this frame to the card using Foam Squares.

Step 6: Adhere stickers to the card, using Foam Squares for dimension.

I Can Smell Border

Step 1: Cut a piece of Navy Solid Cardstock to measure 12″ x 2″. Use this as the base of the border.

Step 2: Cut a piece of grid paper to measure 12″ x 1-3/4″. Adhere to the border.

Step 3: Using the Sunflower Vine Border Punch, punch a border from Navy Solid Cardstock. Adhere to the border.

Step 4: Using the Sunflower Vine Border Punch, punch one “segment”/punch from five different shades/patterns of paper. Offset each segment on the cardstock border, so that it looks like the cardstock is a slight shadow.

Step 5: Using the Sunflower Vine Border Punch, punch another segment of the same papers. Use a scissors to cut out the middles of the sunflower. Adhere to the middles of the sunflowers on the border with a small Foam Square.

Step 6: Adhere stickers and embellishments, using Foam Squares on some for added dimension.

Stay Comfy Border

Step 1: Cut a piece of marigold dots tonal paper to measure 2-1/2″ x 12″ for the base of the border.

Step 2: Cut a piece of cardstock (any shade — you won’t see it) to measure 2-1/4″ x 12″.

Step 3: Cut seven pieces of various papers to measure 4″ x 1-3/4″. Adhere to the cardstock at an angle. Trim any excess with a scissors.

Step 4: Adhere the piece of cardstock with angled pieces to the border.

Step 5: Using Sunflower Vine Border Punch, punch a border from Goldenrod Solid Cardstock. Adhere to the left edge of the border.

Step 6: Cut a piece of burnt orange cable knit sweater designer paper to measure 3/4″ x 12″. Adhere to the top-left edge of the cardstock piece of the border as shown.

Step 7: Run your fingernail along the some of the edges of the papers to distress.

Step 8: Adhere stickers and embellishments, using Foam Squares on some for added dimension.
