Well, take a peek at blog contributor Krislyn Mattei’s ideas for how you can combine your beloved Creative Memories’ collections with tonal scrapbooking supplies for endless options and creative possibilities!

Krislyn’s Inspiration

Don’t you just love options? You get plenty of them when you supplement your beloved collections with the Totally Tonal papers and stickers! I created a two-page Welcome Home layout, adding the Totally Tonal Blue Hues to accentuate the blue tones and textures. Using the same layout design, I swapped the blues for greens — pairing the Endless Meadows collection with the Totally Tonal Green Hues for a dewy and dreamy spring layout.

Totally Tonal Blues Hues + Welcome Home Collection Layout

To create these layouts you’ll need:

Step 1: Use White Solid Cardstock or White Refill Pages as the bases for this two-page layout.

Step 2: Cut a 12″ x 12″ piece of Welcome Home ditsy floral designer paper at 7″, giving you 7″ x 12″ and 5″ x 12″ pieces. Adhere the 7″ x 12″ piece on the left side and the 5″ x 12″ piece on the right side of the layout as shown. Cut a 2″ x 12″ strip of Totally Tonal Blue Hues woven paper and adhere it on the left edge of the layout. Cut a 2-1/2″ x 12″ strip of the same woven paper and adhere it on the right edge of the layout.

Step 3: Cut a 3″ x 12″ strip of White Solid Cardstock. With the Embossed Hexagon Punch, punch from various Totally Tonal Blue Hues papers and Welcome Home tonal papers. Adhere along the cardstock strip as shown and mount on the left side of the layout. Adhere Totally Tonal Blue Hues stickers along the left and right sides of the layout.

Step 4: Using the inside edge of the medium Custom Cutting System Circle Pattern and the Red Blade, cut a circle with White Solid Cardstock. Punch six hexagons with Totally Tonal Blue Hues papers and six with White Solid Cardstock. Adhere the blue hexagons on the circle to form a “flower.” Adhere the white hexagons behind the blue hexagons to form a large hexagon shape. Using the inside edge of the medium Custom Cutting System Circle Pattern and the Blue Blade, cut a circle with Welcome Home terra cotta small triangles tonal paper. Adhere on the flower shape. Top with a sticker.

Step 5: Cut three 4″ x 6″ photo mats with White Solid Cardstock and top with one horizontal photo and two vertical photos, cropped slightly. Cut four 3″ x 4″ photo mats with Blue Solid Cardstock and top with three photos and one variety mat, each cropped to 2-3/4″ x 3-3/4″.

Step 6: Add stickers and embellishments. Journal as desired.

Variation: Totally Tonal Green Hues + Endless Meadows Collection

To create this layout, substitute the following:

To create the wreath: Using the inside edge of the large Custom Cutting System Circle Pattern and the Green Blade, cut a circle with White Solid Cardstock. With the Five Leaf Punch, punch 10 leaves with a variety of Totally Tonal Green Hues papers. Layer and adhere them around the circle.

Next, I saddled up the Totally Tonal Sepia Hues with the Wide Open Spaces collection and created a new layout that makes a statement with stripes of rich brown tones and a border to give it a Western feel. Finally, using the same layout design, I traded the sepia hues for shades of black and gray to fly with the Wanderlust collection and a more sophisticated look.

Totally Tonal Sepia Hues + Wide Open Places Layout

To create these layouts you’ll need:

Step 1: Use two pieces of cardstock (any hue) or refill pages as the bases for this two-page layout.

Step 2: Cut two 6″ x 8″ pieces of Wide Open Places red paisley bandana designer paper and adhere to the inner layout as shown. Cut two 6″ x 8″ pieces of Wide Open Places floral cowboy shirt designer paper and adhere to the outer layout, next to the red paisley bandana pieces. Cut two 12″ x 1/2″ strips of Wide Open Places teal plaid designer paper and adhere across the bottom of the layout.

Step 3: Cut a 12″ x 4″ piece of cardstock (any hue). Cut 16 3/4″ x 4″ strips of various Totally Tonal Sepia Hues papers. Adhere side by side along the cardstock. Cut the piece into four 12″ x 1″ strips. Adhere two strips along the bottom of the red paisley bandana and floral cowboy shirt pieces. Adhere the other two strips above the teal plaid strips along the bottom. Cut two 3/4″ x 12″ strips of Totally Tonal Sepia Hues triangles paper and adhere on the outer edges of the layout.

Step 4: Cut two 12″ x 1-1/2″ strips of Wide Open Places light teal dainty florals designer paper. With the Field Fence Border Punch, punch two borders with Hot Fudge Solid Cardstock. Adhere the borders on the strips and mount on the layout between the strip borders.

Step 5: Cut two 4-1/2″ x 6-1/2″ mats with Hot Fudge Solid Cardstock and adhere on the red paisley bandana pieces. Adhere a variety mat journal box on one. Cut a 4″ x 6″ piece of Wide Open Places light teal dainty florals designer paper and adhere on the other. Crop a photo to 3-3/4″ x 5-3/4″ and mount on top. Cut four 5″ x 3-1/2″ photo mats with Wide Open Places teal plaid designer paper and adhere to the sides of the layout as shown. Top with four 4-3/4″ x 3-1/4″ photos.

Step 6: Cut a border sticker in half and place on either side of the border. Top with additional stickers, popping some up with Foam Squares for added dimension.

Step 7: Journal as desired.

Variation: Totally Tonal Neutral Hues + Wanderlust Collection

To create this layout, substitute the following:

Use the Photography Chain BMC instead of the Field Fence Border Punch.

  1. The layouts are AWESOME! Of course, BLUE is always my first pick, and what did I find? Sold Out. 🫤 Will the blue be restocked soon?

  2. They all are great paper pack combinations. I especially like the Tonal Blues Hues + Welcome Home Collection Layout. I was only looking at the tonal paper packs as one-dimension layouts. Combining them with other paper packs really provides multiple dimensions to each layout.
