Bring out the flip-flops, pool floaties and grilling gear — the official start of summer is here! Yesterday marked the official first day of summer for those living in the Northern Hemisphere. It’s also the longest day of the year, which means there’s even MORE daylight hours for you to escape the heat and try out this summer scrapbook layout from blog contributor Sachiyo Omitsu, which features an oh, so cool shaved ice design!

Step 1: Use a piece of Eggplant Solid Cardstock as the base of this layout. Cut a piece of the white sand dots paper to measure 11-3/4” x 11-3/4” and add to the base.

Step 2: Cut the following pieces:
- Cup:
- Cut one 4” x 6” mat from Purple Ice Solid Cardstock.
- Cut two 3-1/2” x 5” pieces from Island Waters Solid Cardstock.
- Cut one 3-15/16” x 5-15/16” mat and two 3-7/16” x 4-15/16” mats from White Solid Cardstock. Adhere on top of the purple ice and island waters mats.
- Shaved Ice:
- Using the outside edge of the second-largest Oval Custom Cutting System Pattern and the Blue Blade, cut an oval from the eggplant blanket stripe, coral suns and multi-hued diagonal stripe papers.
- Tear the oval edges to make it look like shaved ice.
- Add shaved ice piece to the cup and adhere to the page as shown.
Step 3: Using the Sea Star Chain Border Maker Cartridge, punch one border from Purple Ice Solid
Cardstock and one border from Eggplant Solid Cardstock. Adhere the purple ice border slightly offset from the eggplant border. Add to the page.

Step 4: Adhere stickers and embellishments, using Foam Squares on some for added dimension.
