A Primary Palette Project: Blue Scrapbook Layout

Have you ever heard of ROYGBIV (also known by the name of Roy G. Biv)? It’s an acronym for the hues of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Well, we’re focusing our attention on B — blue! This blue scrapbook layout from blog contributor Karyn McDermaid-Rolfe is the perfect primary project and will have you exclaiming “Blue-ya!”

Layout by Karyn McDermaid-Rolfe — CM Independent Advisor

To create this layout you will need:

Step 1: Cut a 1” hollow frame from a sheet of Blue Solid Cardstock.

Step 2: Cut ombré paper to 11-1/2” x 11-1/2” and adhere to the hollow frame.

Step 3: Cut five 11-1/2” x 3/8” strips from various papers.

Step 4: Cut five 1” x 1” squares and two 1-3/4” x 1-3/4” squares from cascading dots paper.

Step 5: Use the inside edge of the smallest Circle Custom Cutting System Pattern and the Green Blade to cut five circles from cascading dots paper. Use the inside edge of the medium Circle Custom Cutting System Pattern and the Blue Blade to cut two circles from cascading dots paper.

Step 6: Fold all seven of the circles in half and use All-Purpose Scissors to cut the circles in half on the score lines.

Step 7: Use the outside edge of the smallest Circle Custom Cutting System Pattern and the Red Blade to cut three photos. Use the Green Blade on the outside edge to cut three mats from Blue Solid Cardstock. Adhere the photos to the mats.

Step 8: To assemble the layout, start at the top of the page and adhere the paper pieces and stickers in the order shown. You may use a ruler to help keep the pieces straight as you’re adhering.  To create the hearts, arrange the semi-circles with the squares, leaving a small gap between the pieces.

Step 9: Cut three 4” x 1/2” strips from White Solid Cardstock and journal on the strips. Adhere the strips under the photo and over a large heart as shown.

Step 10: Add additional stickers with Foam Squares for added dimension.
