Stop and Smell the Flowers With This Spring Layout

Take the beauty of spring flowers and put them in your scrapbook! This spring layout features bright pastel flowers made by carefully tearing papers from the Spring Soiree collection — and it includes a “vase” to put them in! See how you can craft your own bouquet below!

Layout by Melissa Ullmann — CM Independent Advisor

To create this layout you will need:

Step 1: Using a piece of Avocado Solid Cardstock and the 12-inch Trimmer, cut out the inside leaving a 1-1/4” frame. Set the inside piece of cardstock aside. Use the frame as the base of the layout.

Step 2: Cut a strip from the floral ribbon paper to measure 12” x 1-1/2”. Adhere this strip to the lower portion of beige dots paper, approximately ¾” from the bottom edge.

Step 3: Adhere the purple plaid border sticker along the lower edge of this strip and the green leaves sticker border along the top edge of this strip.

Step 4: Using the 12-inch Trimmer, cut ½” strip from the top and right side of the beige paper.

Step 5: Adhere the beige paper piece to the top of the avocado cardstock base frame.

Step 6: Using the multicolored stripes paper and the outside of the 4” x 6” CCS Oval Pattern, cut an oval with the Red Blade. Rotate this oval on your trimmer so that it is horizontal and cut off a section that measures 1”. Adhere the body of the oval to the layout, tucked under the strip along the bottom of the beige paper for the base of the “vase.” Then place the 1” oval section with the rounded edge to the top of the “vase.”

Step 7: Cut circles from the following papers: blue plaid, pink scallops, yellow lines and purple petals. One circle of each pattern with the inside of the medium circle and the Red Blade, one circle of each pattern with the inside of the medium circle and the Green Blade, and one circle of each paper with the inside of the medium circle and the Blue Blade.

Step 8: Gently tear or rip away the outer edges of each of the circles. Layer each of the same-colored circle to create the flowers. Adhere above the “vase,” using Foam Squares on a couple of the flowers.

Step 9: To create the leaves, fold a 2” x 12” strip of green floral paper in half vertically. Place the inside of your medium CCS Circle Pattern over the folded edge and cut with the Red Blade. Repeat this step for the number of leaves you wish to create. Adhere them tucked under the flowers in the “bouquet.”

Step 10: Using the piece from the inside of the avocado cardstock frame, cut photo mats that measure: (1) 6-1/4” x 4-1/4” and (2) 2-3/4” x 3-3/4”.

Step 11: Using the yellow lines paper, cut two mats that measure 3” x 4”. Adhere the previous two cardstock mats that measure 2-3/4” x 3-3/4” to these mats.

Step 12: Adhere the photo mats to the layout.

Step 13: Adhere any additional stickers to the layout, using Foam Squares on some for added dimension.

Step 14: Use Brown Dual-Tip Pen to draw faux stitching along the outer edge of the vase, and to journal along the stripes of the “vase.”

  1. Love the ideas to make a vase of flowers!

I found the sequence of some of the instructions confusing as if the steps were in the wrong order. Maybe they weren’t. But to help my brain understand how to place the beige and floral ribbon papers along with the 2 border stickers (purple plaid & green leaves), I thought the sequence of steps listed below made it easier to create the pretty layout:

Step 1: Using a piece of Avocado Solid Cardstock and the 12-inch Trimmer, cut out the inside leaving a 1-1/4” frame. Set the inside piece of cardstock aside. Use the frame as the base of the layout.

New Step 2: Using the 12-inch Trimmer, cut ½” strip from the top and right side of the beige paper.

New Step 3: Adhere the beige paper piece to the top of the avocado cardstock base frame.

New Step 4: Cut a strip from the floral ribbon paper to measure 12” x 1-1/2”. Adhere this strip to the lower portion of beige dots paper, approximately ¾” from the bottom edge. Note: In Step 7, the multicolored stripe paper is cut into an oval and then is slightly tucked under the floral ribbon paper strip. However, in Step 5, a 12” green leaves sticker border is adhered to top of the ribbon paper strip prior to creating and sticking down the oval stripes paper. Suggest 2 things: First idea: Place adhesive on the ribbon paper strip toward the center so that the oval can be tucked. Second idea: Place green leaves sticker border on the ribbon paper strip leaving the last ~ 5: on the sticker release paper until you place the oval vase base on layout. Then you can stick remaining green leave sticker down and tuck some of its leaves as the image shows.

New Step 5: Adhere the purple plaid border sticker along the lower edge of floral ribbon paper strip. Then adhere the green leaves sticker border along the top edge of floral ribbon paper strip.

Continue to Step 6 – Step 14 as outlined above.
