Summer will soon be winding down, which means that it’s almost time for school to start! The Essentials collection has everything you need to make a beautiful back-to-school layout that captures the essence of that first day of school like never before. In today’s post, check out blog contributor Mati’s back-to-school scrapbook ideas!
When making a beautiful scrapbook layout, two things you want to pay extra attention to are the colors you use and the tiny details you add to the page. Thankfully, the Essentials collection is rich in both of those things. The Tone-on-Tone Paper Pack has a rich primary palette that feels incredibly classic, and the Accent Paper Pack uses stunning silver foil to add character to any page. You can combine these two paper packs with other products from the Essentials collection to make a primary color scrapbook layout that works with nearly any theme. Read more to find out how!
It’s that time again… Back to school! To celebrate the upcoming school year and sport seasons, we are giving you DOUBLE the wallpapers. That means 6 FREE cellphone wallpapers… SCORE! Now you can enjoy both of these fun collections in your scrapbooks and in your pocket.

Getting back to school is not my favourite time of year as I love having the children around the house without the busy school schedules, but once they are back we work into the schedule quickly. I do love taking back to school photos though!
I few years ago I started taking a photo on the first day of school and the last day of school on the front step to show the difference in the children throughout their school year. They always mature quite a bit through the school year, but the biggest difference is their growth. I love the Bookworm digital kit with all of the school related embellishments, but what I really love is the colours as they are muted primary colours.
How exciting!!! A collection for all of your school memories.
As you may remember, I am new to the scrapbooking part of papercrafting. I have a pile of my kids’ school memories that need to get into books. I am not overwhelmed by the process. I figure I will let the paper “speak” to me. That is exactly what this Bookworm Collection did to me. It spoke to me when picking a photo. My daughter spoke to me as well! When I showed her the picture that I decided on she said, “really Mom, you couldn’t have picked another picture that made me look less dorky?”.
It is so hard to believe that we are talking about sending the littles (or bigs in my case) back to school already. Where does the summer go?
Make sure you capture all of the special moments when you are sending them back to learn. Their grade, the books they like to read, their teacher, their shoe size, their favorite color, etc.
The Bookworm Collection is a fabulous pairing to any layout related to school.
Bold and geometric, the Argyle punch is fun to use on all kinds of page layouts. I’ve paired it with the versatile Denim Blues collection in each of the border ideas below; and added a theme with several of my favorite product collections. Try them as is or substitute with products you have on hand. Borders like these match up well on predesigned Fast2Fab as well as blank pages.
To make these borders you will need:
- Argyle Punch
- Denim Blues Paper, ABC Stickers and Embellishments
- Daily Docket Paper, Stickers and Embellishments
- Cool Serenity Paper, Stickers and Embellishments
- Soiree Paper and Stickers
- Study Buddies Paper and Slide-ins
- Hello Baby Boy Paper and Stickers and Hello Baby Girl Paper
- One sheet each Royal and Peacock Blue cardstock
- Original Border Maker System with Grass and Star Cartridges
- 12-inch Straight Trimmer
- Custom Cutting System with Circle Patterns
- All-Purpose Scissors
- Two-Way Corner Rounder
- Foam Squares
- Tape Runner and Repositionable Tape Runner Refill
Do you keep bookmarks handy when you’re reading a book? My husband reads a lot and keeps plenty of bookmarks laying around. Me? I use whatever is handy. Torn pieces of paper, store receipts, post-it-notes …. even unused Kleenex tissues – anything flat enough to mark my space in whatever book I’m reading.
School kids could probably use a book mark or two to keep track of where they are in their textbooks. Here are a few easy peasy bookmarks to create for your student. Better yet, make it a fun project for the kids to create for themselves.
As a mom and teacher, September always feels more like the beginning of a new year than January does! I love the fresh start of a new school year, so needless to say I was over the moon when Creative Memories introduced the new “Study Buddies” collection of fun, school-themed products! The collection consists of a GORGEOUS Album, Predesigned Fast 2 Fabulous Pages, a Paper Pack, a Slide-In Pack, Embellishments and Stickers! There is really something for every type of memory-keeper in this collection. To prove it to you, I created three school-themed layouts – a Fast 2 Fabulous layout, an easy Multi-Pocket Page layout and a more Traditional decorative layout – with these adorable products. Let me show you!
Pinterest is my never fail go to place when I’m looking for ideas for a new scrapbook layout.
Most often I browse Pinterest looking for inspiration or an idea I can use on my own project. This time though I had something specific in mind – a one photo, school themed layout.
I found quite a few layouts that fit that criteria using Pinterest search. All I had to do was choose which layout I wanted to use.
Today I’m going to share my version of a layout created by Liz Qualman at Liz Qualman Designs. Liz created her super cute scrapbook layout for girl. Mine was created for a boy using Creative Memories’ new Study Buddies Collection. I used the same concept for my layout but changed things up a bit.
