Photo Tips – Aperture/F-Stop

Ready to learn about aperture/F-stop? I am going to share a few tips with you about how to get started setting your aperture.

The first step is to decide what you are trying to achieve from the photo you want to take, blurred background, everything in focus, stop action, blurred action. If you are trying to blur your background or keep everything in focus it is your aperture you are going to set first. When beginning it is a good idea to go 50 percent manual and you do this by using the A(Nikon) or AV(Canon) mode found on the dial on the top of your camera. In this mode you set the f-stop and the camera chooses the correct shutter speed to balance the light meter in your camera.

Earth Day Project – Make a Mini Album with CM Album Packaging

Earth Day is a time for us to remember the environment and how important it is for us to protect it. While people honor it different ways such as turning off the lights for Earth Hour or picking up trash on the side of the road, I have a little tradition of my own…

And it of course includes crafting!

Photo Tips -Get To Know Your Camera

untitled-8915

Would you like to get your camera off the automatic settings and take control of your camera?  I am going to teach you about the different features that are available on most DSLR cameras (digital single-lens reflex) in this post and then I will do a more detailed post on some of the most important components of manual photography.  The first step is to go to the dial on the top of your camera and turn the dial to “M” and away from the “Auto” or the green box option.

Luxurious Layered Cards using Forever Yours Scrapbook Collection

Creative Memories new Forever Yours Collection was released just in time for the spring/summer wedding season.  I know that I’ll be attending a few bridal showers and two weddings this summer – one being my son’s – and I’ll need some cards for gift-giving.

I created two beautiful layered cards with lots of texture and pretty details using the Forever Yours Paper, Stickers, Embellishments, Laser Cut Embellishments and Vellum Paper.  Our new 4-Way Corner and Hole Punch added the final pièce de résistance to these cards.

Easter 2017 Treat Gift Boxes

Easter 2017 is just around the corner. With that, we are hopping around looking for Easter treats for our co-workers and family. We certainly do our fair share of eating sweet treats around the Creative Memories office. Rarely is the candy dish empty (or maybe it is empty all too often and we’re constantly refilling it; I guess it depends on how you look at it.)

Let us show you how to create a most-adorable gift box for those special little treats using just one piece of Cardstock and one piece of Designer Print Paper. Or, just create the base box and decorate the outer portion of the box with paper and a cute border.

A Man’s Best Friend: Paw Print Scrapbook Border

I did not grow up with any pets. Well, a parakeet. Does that count?

Unfortunately, I grew up with asthma and allergies, which meant no extra dander in the house. It made me sad to not be able to even pet the neighbor’s dogs or cats.  I had no idea what I was missing out on until I outgrew the allergies and asthma in my adult years.

My boys begged and begged for a furry friend.

Top 5 Crazy Creative Things My Siblings & I Did Together: National Siblings Day 2017

There was rarely a dull moment in my household growing up. There were four of us kids in the family—my older brother, me, and my two younger sisters—and my parents had a strict family rule that we couldn’t watch more than 30 minutes of TV a day. While we all had hobbies and activities that we liked doing on our own during the week, we often ended up creating innovative games and activities together on weekends. Given that today is National Siblings Day 2017, I thought I’d take a few minutes to share my list of the top 5 crazy creative things I did with my siblings growing up (and don’t judge!).

***Sibling Day Idea: Create a digital layout for your sibs! Mix and match digital papers and elements for a look that is uniquely you. This layout features digitals from Forever Yours, Cap & Gown and Cool Serenity.***
