Photo Tips: Wedding Candids

I love attending weddings and I love taking photos at weddings!  As the guest there are so many fun things to snap photos of and I am going to give you a few tips and things I like capturing with my camera.

Decorations

We just went to a gorgeous outdoor wedding this past weekend so the photo opportunities were abundant!  I love details so I love taking photos of the decorations and the creativity the bride and groom have poured into their wedding.  Usually the couple’s personalities shine through the decoration choices and it was certainly was the case at this wedding.

Meet Us Monday: Shari Reiland

Hello! My name is Shari Rieland, and I am the Director of Product Development.

In my role, I have the privilege of managing the product life-cycle which starts with idea generation and ends with product evaluation after launch.

One of my favorite parts of this role is that I get to interact with so many people along the way from everyone inside the home office, to vendors near and far and with our customers, which of course includes our fabulous field of Advisors.

It is amazing how much you learn from others!

Since I joined CM back in 2005, I have always been in product development.  My first role was a Product Specialist on the Tools team and one of my first projects was the Tape Runner re-design….Nothing like stressing out the newbie with a re-design to one of the most popular CM products!

Fast forward 11 years (wow!) and I am now honored to be able to lead the process and keep driving us forward with our high quality products.  But I definitely do not do it alone!

I am very grateful to walk alongside the team at the Home Office and all of the Advisors who provide great feedback and insight to keep producing the best products.

When not at work, you will find my husband and I running our three kids to sporting events, hanging out on the lake (since we live in the state of 11,842 lakes but who’s counting) and spending as much time with family and friends as we can.

Oh, and right now building a new house- just a small task on the to-do list.

Remembering Kevin

Remembering Kevin

Special thanks to CM Advisor and Content Contributor Stefani Jones for sharing this story.

When my brother Kevin passed away unexpectedly in 2014 at age 25, my family was devastated. Even more than a year later, it’s still hard to believe that he’s not just going to walk through the door one day with his gruffy beard and a big hug for anybody in his path.

One of the only bright spots in the days after we heard the news was the chance we had to share our memories of Kevin with each other. I had made a Creative Memories album with many of Kevin’s photos and stories from birth to age 12 when I was a relatively young Creative Memories consultant, and the day after he died I took the album to my parents’ house. This book brought both smiles and tears to the literally hundreds of visitors, friends, and funeral attendees who came to pay their respects and reminisce with our family. Click to read full post

Photographing the Everyday

Photographing the Everyday

CM Advisor and Content Contributor Julie Tambrini shared this great article.

No one will ever accuse the people who lived in 2015 of not taking enough pictures. We take millions of them everyday! Digital photography enables us to take a hundred pictures and delete all but a few of the best shots. Anyone with a smartphone has a camera in hand at all times. And social media gives us an easy way to share it all.

We tend to photograph the big life moments: newborn babies, graduations, weddings, vacations, birthdays, the kid with the soccer trophy. But there is a lot to be said for documenting the everyday. Some of my most treasured photos are of everyday moments: my grandma in her apron, canning tomatoes; my mom as young wife and mother, having her morning coffee; my kids snuggled on the couch; photos of my childhood bedroom; my husband deep in thought; my friend laughing at something happening off-camera. Quality matters (and dudes scrap, too!)

Quality Matters

As CM Advisor and Content Contributor Fran Smitherman shared on her blog recently, quality matters when it comes to photo album preservation. There’s no substitute for the peace of mind that comes with placing treasured photos into an album that will stand the test of time – and then some. Read about CM’s high-quality, long-lasting products.

Fran shared an example of an album that was (quite literally) crumbling apart. It was an album of her grandfather’s (Paw Paw) from his law school days. The memories showcased were amazing, but they were quickly becoming destroyed in the old album. Fran carefully plucked the memorabilia from his album and placed it into a Creative Memories Album where it now will be around for generations! Priceless! Click to read full post
