My youngest granddaughter loves paper crafts. She’s been creating handmade gifts and cards with scrapbooking materials since she was old enough to use a pair of scissors. I think she would approve of the handmade and altered art teacher gift ideas I’m sharing with you today. All you’ll need to complete the teacher gifts I created Creative Memories scrapbooking products, a few dollar store or grocery store items, and a few items you probably already have in your home. I used scrapbooking papers, stickers and embellishments from A Year to Remember collection. I love the way it complements the end of the school year theme of today’s post.
Here’s what you’ll need to create the above project:
- A Year to Remember Paper Pack
- A Year to Remember Stickers
- A Year to Remember Embellishments
- Yellow cardstock and White cardstock
- 12-Inch Straight Trimmer
- Border Maker and Star Cartridge
- 2 – Way Corner Rounder
- Custom Cutting System and Oval Patterns
- Black Dual-tip Pen
- Tape Runner
- House plant
- Container for your house plant. I used a tea tin.
- A thin wooden dowel, cut to fit.
Star Teacher Gift Idea
- Measure your container and use the 12-Inch trimmer to cut pattern paper to fit. Use tape runner to adhere paper to container as shown. If need be, add a second piece to the back of the container.
- Using the Border Maker and Star Cartridge, punch a star border from a contrasting pattern paper. Trim to 1 ¼” x 12 inches.
- Cut a 1” x 12” strip from yellow cardstock. Layer with the star border and adhere. Wrap layered border strip around container as shown with any open space in the front.
- Cut a 2” x 3” rectangle from contrasting pattern paper. Using the 2-Way Corner Rounder, round corners of rectangle.
- Using the inside track of the medium oval (#3 oval – the largest being #1) from the Custom Cutting system and the red blade, cut an oval from white cardstock.
- Use the black dual-tip pen and dot lettering to hand write Star Teacher. Draw faux stitching if desired. Layer with 2” x 3” rectangle and adhere to front of planter as shown.
- Use Star Cartridge without the guide to punch 3 stars from yellow cardstock. Adhere to planter as shown.
- To create planter pick, cut a 2 ½” square from pattern paper and a 2” square from white cardstock. Layer and adhere. Use black dual-tip pen and dot lettering to hand write greeting. Draw faux stitching around the edge.
- Punch 3 stars from yellow cardstock and adhere to square as shown. Use tape runner to adhere square to dowel.

- Cranberry cardstock
- 12-Inch Straight Trimmer
- Border Maker and Lace Flower Chain Cartridge
- Custom Cutting System and Circle and Oval Patterns
- Multi-Purpose Tool
- Black Dual-tip pen
- Tape Runner
- 4” x 6” acrylic frame from the dollar store or Walmart
- Round container such as a round tea tin or a Pringles container cut to use as a pencil holder.
- Post-It notes
- 3 Ghirardelli chocolate squares
Post-It Notes Holder
- Use 12-Inch trimmer to cut one 4” x 6” rectangle from pattern paper. From contrasting pattern paper, cut one 1 ½” x 2 ½” rectangle and one 3 ¼” square.
- Cut arrow off of pink tag and adhere to 1 ½” x 2 ½” rectangle. Use black dual-tip pen and dot lettering to hand write Awesome Teacher or desired sentiment and adhere to large rectangle as shown.
- Adhere 3 ¼” square to large rectangle as shown.
- Cut the pink flower tag in half and adhere as shown.
- Slip decorated rectangle into the sleeve of the acrylic frame. Use tape runner to adhere post-it note to top of frame and over the 3 ¼” square as shown.
Pencil Holder
- Measure your container and use 12-Inch trimmer to cut pattern paper to fit.
- Using the Border Maker and the Lace Flower Chain cartridge, punch 2 borders from contrasting paper.
- Adhere flower chain borders to pattern paper as shown. Adhere paper to container to create pencil holder.
Ghirardelli Chocolate Box
- Use 12-Inch trimmer to cut one 2 ¾” x 6 ½” rectangle from cranberry cardstock and one 1 ¾” x 7 ½” rectangle from red pattern paper.
- Using the Custom Cutting system, the large oval pattern and the red blade, cut an oval shape flap into one end of the 2 ¾” x 6 ½” rectangle as shown in the first picture.
- Using a pencil, measure and mark score lines on large rectangle at 1 ⅞” from the bottom, ¾” from the first line, 1 ⅞” from the second line, and ¾” from the third line.
- Using a pencil, measure and mark score lines on small rectangle at 1 ¾” from the right side, ¾” from the first line, 2 ¾” from the second line, and ¾” from the third line.
- Using the 12-Inch trimmer track and the Multi-Purpose Tool, score both rectangles at score lines as shown. Fold at score lines.
- To create box, adhere small rectangle to the large rectangle as shown in pictures.
- Using the Custom cutting system, the inside track of the small circle pattern, and the green blade, cut a circle from contrasting pattern paper. Adhere bird sticker to circle. Fill box with chocolates and seal box with circle as shown.
