The sun is shining, flowers are budding, the crisp air is wafting with ease and that gingham blanket that’s been tucked in the back of the closet all winter is ready to make its much-anticipated return. Do you know that means? It’s time for a picnic! Whether it’s a simple spread at the neighborhood park, a sumptuous basket by the shoreline or an impromptu family experience right in your own backyard, dining al fresco can be so much fun. Blog contributor Sachiyo Omitsu has recently been spending more time outside and wanted to share with you her picnic scrapbook border idea!
Sachiyo’s Inspiration
What better way to take advantage of sunny days than with a picnic? We love eating outside, especially in our own backyard in the sunshine. Spreading out a blanket and setting a small picnic table and pillows, we just kick back, relax and enjoy the day. Where do you like to go when having a picnic?

To create this border you will need:
- Homestead Paper Pack or (Shop Canada | Shop Australia)
- Homestead Stickers or (Shop Canada | Shop Australia)
- Black & Platinum Shimmer Solid Cardstocks or (Shop Canada | Shop Australia)
- Dine Border Punch or (Shop Canada | Shop Australia)
- 2-Way Corner Rounder or (Shop Canada | Shop Australia)
- 12-inch Trimmer or (Shop Canada | Shop Australia)
- All-Purpose Scissors or (Shop Canada | Shop Australia)
- Repositionable Tape Runner or (Shop Canada | Shop Australia)
- Foam Squares or (Shop Canada | Shop Australia)

Step 1: Cut the dark green leaves paper to measure 3″ x 12″ and use it as the base. Cut the light plaid paper to measure 2-7/8″ x 11-7/8″ and add it to the base.
Step 2: Cut the reclaimed wood paper to measure 2″ x 11-1/4″ and 2-1/8″ x 11-3/8″. Round the corners with the 2-Way Corner Rounder. Flip the larger piece over and add the smaller piece on the top. Adhere to the base.

Step 3: Mark at 3″, 6″ and 9″ from the corner of Platinum Shimmer Solid Cardstock.

Step 4: Flip the punch and place the mark to the edge of the punching window. After punching once, adjust the cardstock so that the next mark comes to the edge of the punching window.
Step 5: Repeat the same steps until you have punch a border. Trim the excess pieces as shown.
Step 6: Repeat the same steps with Black Solid Cardstock. Adhere the platinum border on top of the black border. Add to the base.

Step 7: Adhere stickers, using Foam Squares on some for added dimension.
