Challenge #1

Layout by Noreen S. — Creative Memories Home Office

Collection Used: Noteworthy Days (Shop Canada | Shop Australia)

Noreen’s Tip:  “Although there are lots of lovely paper patterns I could have used for the 12” x 4” strip along the top edge of this layout, I wanted to use up some of the scraps I had accumulated from the Noteworthy Days collection. So instead, I cut a 12” x 4” piece of scrap cardstock and adhered various 1/2” strips to it before adhering it to the layout. It looks like a custom diagonal striped paper pattern! And the best thing is that this technique could be used with other basic shapes to create an infinite number of custom “paper” pieces!”

Challenge #2

Layout by Noreen S. — Creative Memories Home Office

Collection Used: Hit The Road (Shop Canada | Shop Australia)

Noreen’s Tip: “When a sketch calls for borders, the sky is the limit! Here I cut two different sticker borders from the Hit the Road Stickers pack into 4” lengths and alternated them beside the photo block, but it would look great with borders punched with the Road Trip Border Punch too!”

Challenge #3

Layout by Noreen S. — Creative Memories Home Office

Collection Used: Berry Harvest (Shop Canada | Shop Australia)

Noreen’s Tip: One of my best tips for creating a cohesive layout is to look for opportunities to repeat the various colors throughout the layout. Here in this fun and fruity layout, I wanted to use the strawberry and blueberry border stickers, but there was no blue in the papers I had used. To counteract this, I ensured that the blue color was used in other ways – in the labels on the punched mason jars, for the extra banner border strips and even in the enamel dots in the embellishment clusters. Those little pops of blue create continuity and end up looking intentional rather than random!”

Challenge #4

Layout by Noreen S. — Creative Memories Home Office

Collection Used: Poolside Paradise (Shop Canada | Shop Australia)

Noreen’s Tip: “How do you get NINE photos on a layout without it looking overcrowded? Replay on a grid! I kept the center section of this layout very plain so I could arrange six vertical photos in a grid like pattern and then relegated the busy patterns and embellishment clusters off to the sides of the layout. I was able to add a few more photos to those areas by matting them so they stood out from the patterned paper background.”
