A gem is a precious or unique stone which can be used in jewelry.
In this case, it is precious and can be used on your scrapbooking layouts.
The way I see it, scrapbooking layouts equate to jewelry. Each unique in their own way.
Not sure about you, but there are times when I am creating that things just fall together. This is one of those times. When I looked at the diamond shaped Custom Cutting System pattern I was trying to envision a flower. So, I just cut out several of the shapes until it all came together.
I do have to say that creating this layout will require Repositionable Adhesive. You will want your diamond shapes to be flexible until you have them placed exactly where you want them. Once you have the entire flower shape created, you will adhere it to the layout using your Tape Runner.
To create this layout, you will need:
- Mix and Match Designer Paper Packs- Evergreen, Eggplant, and Neutral
- Mix and Match Embellishments- Eggplant
- Custom Cutting System with Gemstone Patterns
- Foam Squares
- Watercolor Green ABC/123 Stickers
- Tape Runner and Repositionable Adhesive
Here are step by step images/instructions for you to follow, as well.
Step 1: Pick out five different patterns of paper.
Step 2: Cut six diamond shapes from the green dot patterned paper, by using the inside of the diamond CCS pattern, with the green blade.
Step 3: Cut six diamond shapes from the lilac patterned paper, by using the inside of the diamond CCS pattern, with the green blade.
Step 4: Cut six diamond shapes from the purple dot patterned paper, but using the inside of the diamond shape with the green blade.
Step 5: Cut six diamond shapes from the purple sponge patterned paper, by using the inside of the diamond CCS pattern with the blue blade.
Step 6: Cut the hexagon shape from the green patterned paper, using the inside of the hexagon CCS pattern with the blue blade.
Step 7: Cover the back of the hexagon shape with Repositionable Adhesive. Adhere the tips of the purple dot diamonds to the back of the hexagon using Repositionable Adhesive.
Step 8: Adhere the lilac diamond shapes to the back of the purple dotted diamonds using Repositionable Adhesive.
Step 9: Adhere the green dotted diamonds to the back side, in between the purple tips, using Repositionable Adhesive.
Step 10: Adhere the purple sponge diamond shapes to the tops of the green diamonds.
Step 11: Adhere embellishments to the layout.
Step 12: Cut photos using the inside of the diamond CCS pattern with the blue blade. Adhere to the tops of the purple sponge pieces.
Step 13: Adhere the large flower shape to the top of your base piece of paper using your Tape Runner.
Step 14: Adhere the Watercolor Green ABC/123 Stickers for the title.
Step 15: Journal on layout as desired.
We would absolutely LOVE to see your Gemstone Custom Cutting System layout, so make sure when you add it to social media to use #creativememories .
Happy Creating!
cute-except i’d put more than 2 photos on the page
Oh Absolutely, this was a work in progress! :)
Very cute!
What an unusual combination of patterned papers. This really makes me think about pattern and color combinations. I have a question–any other suggestions for what to put in the center? I like my layouts to be flat, and I don’t have that flower pack anyway. Love the layout-I’m going to do it!
You could put a circle sticker, or journal in that spot. :) -Melissa
Love this
It reminds me of piecing a quilt, and I love the effect. <3
Agree with Dihann – I like flat layouts so wish they would make the embellishment packs with flat sequins – BUT this is an awesome layout and I’m definitely going to use the idea!! Thanks for all you inspirations!!
Love it….used it for my title page for a new album and replaced BLOOM with the year.
Please share your layout with us on social media using #creativememories ! :)
This is beautiful! Would never have thought of this. I don’t do a lot of embellishments so would probably use a different flower, also because of the 3D effect, hard on the book. But the idea to journal there is good. As someone else said I am always fearful of mixing patterns, just don’t really have the eye for it but I will still try. And I too would add more photos. Thank you for this!
I love this page! What a great idea! i wish the instructions were available on a single printable sheet so I can take this to me scrapbook studio to work on. My memory isn’t good enough to just do the project, so I’m going back and forth from office to studio to make the page. One way to get in more steps today, I guess!
You could copy/paste the instructions into a Word document (without the pictures) & then print them out.
Thanks Kathie—I was going to share the same thing! :)
I absolutely love this page ~ I am definitely saving this one to copy and use in the future. Thank you!!!!!
