Fall in love with Origami Hearts

I was playing around with the Mix & Match Cranberry Paper line again!  I am a huge fan!

I have made origami hearts before scrapbooking but I knew I had to try to incorporate them in a layout.  My love of different is apparent in my layouts.

Cover

Origami is the art of paper folding. For the hearts, I used a 2 x 4 piece of the Mix & Match Cranberry Paper Line.  Fold the 2 x 4 paper in half lengthwise, and fold in half again.  Then take one of the folded halves and fold towards the center, do this with both sides. Once that is complete, fold a tiny bit of the top of those folds (as seen in the picture), each of those folds will each have the tops of the corners folded in. I used the Tape Runner to hold the folds in place. With a little practice, the hearts become easier to make.

I used Creative Memories White Solid 12×12 Cardstock as my background.  I wanted to keep it plain and simple to highlight the love. I used the Cranberry Solid 12×12 Cardstock to mat my black and white photo. I also used the Original Border Maker System with the Heart Chain Border Maker Cartridge and the Cranberry Solid 12×12 Cardstock to make an embellishment for the back of my photo, and used the tiny hearts to place randomly around the layout. I used the Black ABC/124 Stickers for the year on the bottom right hand of the layout.

Layout

I made nine hearts thinking I would use them all on my layout, but only used six of them. I didn’t want to waste any, so I made a note card for my stash. For the card base, I used 12×12 Solid White Cardstock trimmed to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored using the Multipurpose tool and the 12 inch Straight Trimmer. Fold at the score line and adhere the leftover origami hearts using the foam squares.

I love thinking outside the norm, I’m hoping this may inspire you to think outside the norm.

Remember, Creativity is contagious…pass it on!

Happy Crafting!

  1. Those hearts look like fun! I have always loved origami… not all that great at some of the more difficult ones, but love it nonetheless. Thanks for sharing your layout!!
