A Journey To The Outback Scrapbook Layout

A-Journey-To-The-Outback-Scrapbook-Layout

Our family has a passion for visiting off-the-beaten-track locations in the Australian outback. We love to getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, get amongst nature and live the simple life. And, when we get home, I love to document our adventures in my Creative Memories Albums so the kids (and us too) will remember these special trips in years to come.

When I saw the colors and patterns in the Outback Journey papers immediately I thought of my photos from one particular day of a family holiday, when hubby and I hiked up Mount Ohlssen-Bagge in the Flinders Ranges. It was such an exhilarating feeling at the top!

A special memory deserves a special layout, I love the look of layering papers and created this page with layered squares. You can recreate this layout for a special memory in your albums too.

Supplies:

Choose 3 coordinating papers and trim 1-1/2″ x 1-1/2″ squares, you’ll need at least 40 squares (I’ve used 52 squares). Cut more squares if you’d like to cover more area or have less photo mats on the page.

Adhere these squares to your page, as shown, starting with the lowest row and move up the page one row at a time. Overlap each row approximately 1 inch to make the appearance of scales.

TIPS: Plan out the order of your squares before adhering them so that you place different patterns on top of each other. Use Repositionable Tape Runner to adhere your squares in case you need to make a change.

Continue adhering squares until you are happy with them. Choose a few places at the top and bottom of the page to adhere 3 squares that are not overlapped with the other squares.

Choose a contrasting paper color and trim a 6-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ mat, a 4″ x 4″ mat and a 5-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ mat. When adhering these mats to your page, slip them under some of the squares so they overlap the top of your mats.

Trim your photos to 6-1/4″ x 4-1/4″, 3-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ and 5-1/4″ x 3-1/4″. Adhere these onto your mats, sliding them under the squares also.

Punch another color paper with the Daisy Bouquet Punch 3 times. Adhere groups of 3 daisies to the top right, bottom left and center of the page.

Add your title and journalling to the page.

  1. Like the overlapping squares. Could use the square punch to make them. Outback has beautiful scenery. We drove through the Flinders Range on the Stuart Hwy. between Adelaide and Alice Springs.
