Scrapbooking… It’s Good for Your Health!

Did you know that scrapbooking is good for your health? Really, it is! Creative Memories Advisors have long described what they do as “therapy,” “my happy place,” “what I do for me” and “my fun job.” It turns out that latest news in neuroscience backs up what they’ve known all along!

In Why Crafting is Great for Mental Health, the author prompts: “think about the time you spend doing something creative that you love… cross stitching, taking pictures or creating a scrapbook – doesn’t it always make you feel great?” Scientists have learned that when we’re enjoying a creative pastime, the dopamine released by our brains provides a natural high and also acts as a natural anti-depressant.

“Research shows that creative practices improve depression, anxiety and coping skills while enhancing the quality of life and significantly reducing stress – all vital for maintaining brain health and well-being.”

Studies in neuropsychiatry have shown that engaging your brain with activities like crafting can offer effects similar to meditation and yoga, and can even reduce cognitive impairments as we age. In the article This is Your Brain on Crafting, the authors compare the effects of crafting to “Flow,” which according to Psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi “is the secret to happiness” –  a statement Dr. Csikszentmihalyi supports with decades of research.

As CM Advisor Dawn Winchester shares, she’s “saved thousands of dollars in therapy” while earning an income doing what she loves. Our happy band of more than 10,000 Advisors couldn’t agree more.

Full time, part time, seasonal…doesn’t matter. You can work when you want and take off when you don’t. Of course, like anything in life, the more time and energy you put in, the more money you’ll make, but helping people enjoy their favorite photos and memories is pretty awesome work. And with our unusual no minimum orders (ever) plan, it’s a stress-free way to pay bills or fund your next grand adventure.

If you like the idea of improving your mental health and earning at the same time (part-time, full-time or as a side hustle), check out the Advisor opportunity.

  1. Especially when you are with your friends!!! We have so much therapy talk while we work on our books together. LOVE it in more ways than one!

  2. Absolutely! And most of us scrapbook the good events, so we are reinforcing the positive in our lives as well.

  3. Being 77 years olds and a Creative Memories consultant/advisor since 1995, I cannot agree more. The plan is to continue for many more years so others can have the same opportunities. Scrapbooking and Health Happy!
