12 Days of Christmas Ideas: Day 7 -Tips for using Punches in Layouts Part III

Today’s layout is the third in our three-part series featuring tips for using punches  in ways you may never have thought of. This layout features stars assembled together to create a wreath as well as adding a little decorative fun flair, too!

Here’s what you’ll need to create it:

Step 1: Cut a piece of tan paper to measure 5″ square.

Step 2: Using Place ‘n Punch, punch 8 star shapes from each green cardstock and green patterned paper.

Step 3: Using Border Maker with Star Cartridge, punch along entire edge of red patterned paper to create several red star shapes.

Step 4: On tan square, adhere 8 green patterned stars into a circle. Adhere green cardstock stars over patterned stars using large Foam Squares. Adhere small red stars to wreath using small Foam Squares. Adhere square to upper right corner of page.

Step 5: Cut a piece of green cardstock to measure 7″ x 5″. Adhere to top left corner of page.

Step 6: Cut red star-punched strip (punched previously to create red stars) to measure 1-1/8″ wide x 7″ high. Cut a strip of green cardstock to measure 1″ wide x 7″ high. Adhere green strip to backside of star strip and adhere to lower right edge of page.

Step 7: Cut a piece of green patterned paper to measure 6.5″ x 4.5″. Adhere to center of page as shown.

Step 8: Cut a piece of red patterned paper to measure 4-3/8″ wide x 4.5″ high.

Step 9: Using Border Maker with Star Cartridge, punch along one 4-3/8″ edge of red piece. NOTE: we punched only twice to avoid having half a star punched near the bottom.

Step 10: Cut a piece of green cardstock to measure 1″ x 4.5″. Adhere green strip to backside of punched red piece and adhere to left center of page as shown.

Step 11: Using scissors, hand trim journal block design from Slide-In Card, then adhere to red punched piece as shown.

Step 12: Cut a piece of tan cardstock to measure 10-7/8″ x 2.5″. Adhere to lower left of page.

Step 13: Cut a thin strip of green cardstock to measure 10-7/8″ x 1/4″. Adhere along center of tan strip.

Step 14: Using scissors, trim “DECEMBER” art from slide-in card, then adhere to green cardstock. Trim around using scissors, then adhere to page using Foam Squares to finish.

NOTE: Black cardstock was used to show where photos would go.

  1. So creative! Never would have thought to use the star maker to make a wreath but it works perfectly. Looks great.
