Go for the Grid with Go! Fight! Win!

It’s almost time for Friday Night Lights!  I have to say–I honestly miss sitting on the bleachers each and every Friday night.  It was a ritual, and each and every week I took my camera along with me.  You just never know what shot or accomplishment you might miss if you don’t have it.  If you are like me, you take hundreds of photos of your kids playing sports.

Sports photos tend to get a little busy, with a lot going on in them.  I was trying to find a way to showcase the many photos on my layout, but not making it a clustered mess.  Then it dawned on me—CLEAN lines.  So, I went with the grid concept.

Not only is this grid layout great for sports, but any other occasion that you have many photos from.  A family event, perhaps?  We would love to see your grid layout on social media by using #creativememories.

To complete this layout, you will need:

Step 1:  Use the Black Cardstock as the base for this layout.

Step 2: Cut the following sized pieces from random papers:

Row 1:

  • 3-1/2″ x 3″
  • 5″ x 3″
  • 2-1/2″ x 3″

Row 2:

  • 4″ x 4″
  • 2-1/2″ x 4″
  • 4-1/2″ x 4″

Row 3:

  • 5-1/4″ x 4″
  • 5″ x 1-3/4″
  • 3/4″ x 1-3/4″
  • 6″ x 2″

Step 3:  Layout and adhere all of the pieces to the Black Cardstock leaving approximately 1/4″ between pieces.

Step 4:  Add photos to the tops of each piece of paper, leaving one for the title and one for journaling. Photo sizes are as follows:

  • 3-1/4″ x 2-3/4″
  • 4-3/4″ x 2-3/4″
  • 2-1/4″ x 2-3/4″
  • 3-3/4″ x 3-3/4″
  • 2-1/4″ x 3-3/4″
  • 4-1/4″ x 3-3/4″
  • 5″ x 3-3/4″
  • 5-3/4″ x 1-3/4″

Step 5:  Add stickers to one piece of paper using Foam Squares to create the title.

Step 6:  Using the Border Maker and Star Border Maker Cartridge, punch 4 stars from Black Cardstock.  Adhere to the small piece of paper on the grid.  Layer the second set of stars on top of the first set using small Foam Squares.

  1. I don’t do sports-themed layouts, but this one is so colorful and bright. I find myself doing more and more grid-type layouts. It really does work well for a page with many photos! Thanks for sharing your ideas.

  2. Love the layout. The only problem is I don’t have any sports photos. I’m going to have to do some brainstorming about how to adapt the layout.

  3. I like the grid layout for beach photos, too. Just change up the paper and stickers. Works for field trips, too.

    1. I would love to see CM market grid layout templates again. I still use the ones from the original company.
