Have you ever gotten your scrapbooking inspiration from a perhaps unorthodox place, like works of art, unique thoughts or different forms of media? Blog contributor Sachiyo Omitsu recently got some inspiration for her layouts from a children’s cartoon — and it helped her churn out this fun swirling scrapbook layout. Check it out!
Sachiyo’s Inspiration
When I created this layout, I got inspiration from the cartoon my kids were watching. The main characters hopped into a time machine and then the screen started to swirl — and just like that, my idea was born. Have you ever thought about time travel? If so, when and where you would like to go?

Step 1: Use the yellow patterned paper and purple patterned paper as the base.

Step 2: Mark at 5″ from the top and 5″ from the left of the dot patterned paper. Align the Jumbo Circle Custom Cutting System Pattern to the marked point. Cut with the Red Blade starting from the marked point. Move the Jumbo Circle Pattern and cut again from the marked point. Make sure you always start cutting from the marked point. Repeat until you cut enough segments — the number of the segments need to be an even number.
Step 3: Alternatively turn over the segments to the other side. Adhere the dot patterned segments to the yellow patterned base. Adhere the “Love” pattered paper to the purple patterned base.
Step 4: Cut a piece of Dark Green Cardstock to measure 4-1/2″ x 6-1/2″ and adhere to the yellow base. Cut a piece of Leaf Green Cardstock to measure 4-1/4″ x 6-1/4″ and mount to the dark green mat. Cut a green Fresh Fusion Laser Cut Embellishment in half and adhere on the sides of the mat as shown.
Step 5: Cut a piece of Eggplant Cardstock to measure 4-1/2″ x 6-1/2″ and adhere to the purple base. Cut a piece of Beige Cardstock to measure 4-1/4″ x 6-1/4″ and mount to the eggplant mat. Trim the purple frame Fresh Fusion Laser Cut Embellishment and adhere on the sides of the mat as shown.
Step 6: Adhere stickers and layered border embellishments, using Foam Squares on some for added dimension.
