Step 1: To create the puppy:

  • From the inside edge of the small heart Custom Cutting System Gemstone Pattern and the Red Blade, cut two hearts from Hot Fudge Solid Cardstock and orange polka dots designer paper. Using a scissors, carefully cut the hot fudge heart in half, top to bottom. Trim away any pointy edges to make ears. Turn the other heart upside down, and using Repositionable Tape, adhere one ear to each side of the “head” heart.
  • From the inside edge of the smallest Custom Cutting System Circle Pattern and the Blue Blade, cut a circle from Hot Fudge Solid Cardstock for a nose. Adhere it to the base of the head with a Foam Square.
  • From the inside edge of the smallest Custom Cutting System Oval Pattern and Blue Blade, cut two ovals from White Solid Cardstock. Adhere as eyes with Foam Squares. Using the larger circle cutout from the Piece by Piece Mini Trio Punch Set, punch two circles from Hot Fudge Cardstock. Adhere these on top of the white ovals with the Precision Point Adhesive Pen.
  • Using the inside edge of the smallest Custom Cutting System Oval Pattern and Red Blade, cut one oval from red checkered designer paper. Trim down some straight edges to form a tongue and adhere below the nose.

Step 2: To create the kitty:

  • From the inside edge of the largest Custom Cutting System Oval Pattern and Red Blade, cut one oval from hearts designer paper. Take a small piece of the same paper and fold in half. Freehand cut an ear shape. (You will have two the same from the paper being folded). Cut two smaller shaped ears from Charcoal Solid Cardstock and adhere in the middle of the larger ears. Adhere both behind the head.
  • From the inside edge of the smallest Custom Cutting System Oval Pattern and Blue Blade, cut two ovals from White Solid Cardstock. Adhere these as eyes with Foam Squares. Using the larger circle cutout from the Piece by Piece Mini Trio Punch Set, punch two circles from Charcoal Solid Cardstock. Adhere these on top of the white ovals with the Precision Point Adhesive Pen. Cut a very narrow strip of Charcoal Solid Cardstock and cut into lengths of around 3-1/2″. Using the Precision Point Adhesive Pen, adhere these as whiskers to the face. Use heart cutout from the Piece by Piece Mini Trip Punch Set, punch a heart-shaped nose from blue plaid designer paper. Use the crescent moon cutout from the Piece by Piece Mini Trip Punch Set and the same paper to make a mouth. Adhere both in place.

Step 3: Using the 12-inch Trimmer and the Straight Blade, cut two contrasting pieces of designer paper to measure 10″ x 4″ and 10″ x 6″. Adhere both pieces to a background paper, ensuring there is an even 1″ border all the way around. (The 4″-wide strip goes near the top of the page.)

Step 4: With the 12-inch Trimmer and the Wave Blade, trim three strips of contrasting designer paper to measure 12″ x 1-3/4″, 12″ x 1-1/4″ and 12″ x 1″. Adhere them over the top of each other before placing the strip over the join line of the two contrasting papers on the background.

Step 5: Cut three photo mats from Light Blue Solid Cardstock to measure (2) 4″ x 4″ and (1) 4″ x 6″. Trim photos to (2) 3-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ and (1) 3-3/4″ x 5-3/4″.
